Randy was shocked to see her. But there she was, standing in front of him in the hallway in front of his hotel room, soaking wet from the snow.

"Kelly, what are you doing here?" he asked her.

She let out a deep breath. "I wanted to see you," she told him.

His eyes lit up slightly and a small smile graced his handsome face.

"Can I come in?" she asked.

He nodded and moved out of the way to let her in. She shook off her soaking jacket and left it on the chair. But she herself didn't sit down. Randy shut the door and stood there a moment, studying her. She looked nervous and was biting her lip, her hands in fists as she paced. She noticed him staring and her cheeks flushed a pretty pink. He smiled.

"So what's going on?" he asked her.

He took a seat on the edge of the bed, only in his pajama pants. He knew that she was leaving for Hawaii tomorrow with John, his best friend.

"What are you doing for the holidays?" she asked.

He hadn't expected that question. "I'm going to see my parents," he shrugged. "Why do you ask?"

She finally sat down, on the small couch. "Just wondering," she told him.

He knew Kelly well and enough to know that something was a bit off. Suddenly her phone went off. She quickly silenced it. When she put it on the table he could see the name of the missed called. It was John. He wondered why she didn't answer. She saw him look at the phone and sighed, quickly wanting to distract him.

"What do you want for Christmas this year?" she asked.

He shrugged. "I don't know. I don't really deserve anything."

But he was lying of course, he knew exactly what he wanted and also that it couldn't be his.

She frowned at his statement. He deserved everything.

"Do you remember last Christmas?" she asked.

He nodded, of course he did. Kelly had gone on a ski trip with him and his family. It had been a blast.

"Do you remember what you said to me?" she asked, her lips pale.

He looked to the ground a moment. He remembered that too. He had told her he loved her. "I do.." he said.

"I'm sorry," she said suddenly.

He furrowed his brow at her. "Why would you be sorry?" he asked.

"Because I didn't say it back."

He shrugged, "At least you didn't lie."

She frowned, "But I did lie."

He furrowed his brow again.

"I was in love with you Randy," she told him. "I just didn't have the guts to say it. I was lying to myself."

Her words shocked him; he had spent so long thinking about that day.

"Is this what you came here to tell me?" he asked.

She shook her head. "I came here to say what I couldn't say before."

His lips parted slightly, in surprise. She stood and so did he. She came over to him, standing only inches from his naked chest.

"I love you Randy," she smiled timidly.

He smiled now, a great smile. He threw his arms around her and held onto her tightly. Kelly rested her head against his chest and could hear his heart beating. Her arms clung to his sides.

"I love you too," he told her, before placing a kiss on her head.

And he had for a long time now. But now his best friend loved him too and that was exactly what he wanted for Christmas that year.
