One-shot for Fai/Yuui! I love them sooo much! Their story is so sad! This fic is based off of one of Fai's character songs! I do not own Tsubasa, Fai, or the song… sadly! Reviews are love! 3
"I can't feel my senses, I just feel the cold. All colors seem to fade away, I can't reach my soul. Tell me I'm frozen."
The boy curled into himself, arms wrapped around his knees. He needs to rest, sleep (Fade Away). The wind is biting against his exposed skin (Cold). His fingers are purple, frostbitten and bleeding. He's crying, sobbing even. His brother at the top of the tower, his other half (My Soul) looks down on him, he is barley visible from so high up.
"Yuui!" The brother at the top yells, gaining the sobbing boys attention. The boy at the bottom, Yuui, quickly stands, walking over to the pile of bodies that he has stacked by the wall of the tower. He begins shouting a response to his brother, wiping his eyes as he does.
"Fai!" he shouts. "Don't worry! I'm coming up! Just be patient! Ill be there soon, I promise…" The last part is spoken in a whisper, almost talking to himself. He begins dragging more bodies over to his make shift hill. Piling them higher, though not nearly high enough. The pile is at least ten to fifteen feet tall, pretty large for a pile consisting only of human corpses (Cold, Frozen, Souls Fade Away). But not even close to reaching the top of the hundred foot tall tower, where Fai is kept. This fact dose not slow Yuui in the slightest. He barely even takes notice of how impossible his feat seems as he drags yet another corpse over to the top of the mound. Fai sits and watches all of this, wishing things could be different (I Can't Reatch My Soul).
"Yuui!" Fai shouts, trying to gain his twins attention, which of course he does. "Stop! You can stop! Don't worry! I'm coming down!" This statement confuses Yuui greatly, but he doesn't have time to contemplate the statement before he sees it.
He's falling. Fai is falling. From the top of the tower, just falling. Yuui stares wide eyed for what seems like hours. Their eyes meet, and in that second Yuui know, he just knows, this will be the last time he sees his brother alive. Fai doesn't even scream, he just falls quietly (much to quickly for Yuui's tastes). Yuui knows he should try to catch him (break his fall, even) but he is frozen to the spot (Frozen). And suddenly, he's not falling anymore. He's on the ground, not five feet from Yuui, broken and bleeding. His arms and legs stick out at odd angles and his head is turned in an unnatural direction. Red blood stains the white snow. Fai is dead. Yuui falls to his knees next to his brother. He is sobbing already, harder than before, as he clutches Fai's body (Cold, Frozen) close to his chest. He rocks back and forth slowly, unsure what else to do.
Fai sits up in his bed quickly, with a strangled gasp of 'Fai!' before he realizes where he is. Checking to make sure that he is alone, he sobs. His breath is ragged, strained, gasping in between sobs. And then he realizes that he isn't alone, not anymore. A tall dark figure stands in the doorway. Fai sniffles and straightens, before smiling at he figure. The shadow grunts and turns away. Tomorrow Fai will have some explaining to do. But for now all he does is lay back down and wonder why it's so cold.
"Tell me I'm frozen…" He whispers to no one.
