Suppose when Joan came to Endeavour's apartment after Ray had hit her, that he had not proposed. Rather he had tried to help her as best he could, knowing that he would be leaving for London soon. Things may have turned out differently.

Set during the pilot episode- a missing scene. Ever wondered how Morse ended up on his bed, with the record around his wrist and a note on his chest, after saying good bye to Mrs. Stromming? This is how I think it happened. Rated T for drinking.

Joan has turned Morse down for the second time in "Redux". Her mom wants to talk to her and Morse has to decide what to do.

Mrs. Thursday arrives at Joan's flat at a moment of crisis. So now she knows what her daughter had been through.

Morse is beginning to realize that he needs to seriously look at where his relationship with Joan is, and what he wants to do about it. Also a retrospective look by Morse from thirty years in the future.

This is just to clarify the fact that several stories, Coffee, The Morning After, and Nice were published individually rather than as part of a multi-chapter story. Three additional chapters will be added for the sake of consistency. The same can be said for series two which will pick up their lives twelve years further on.

Continuing with the story of Endeavour and Joan trying to reestablish their relationship. Set twelve years after Season 5 concludes. This follows the previous story "Renewal" and is my first with multiple chapters.

DeBryn thinks Morse is an enigma. Morse thinks DeBryn is a riddle. Both men, so out of place in the police force, find an affinity with each other. Between muggings, hit and runs, masquerade balls, kidnappings and murder, the unlikely pair progress from colleagues, to friends, to eventually, perhaps, something more... And say the lad that loved you, was the one that kept his word.

Set after "Its Just Dinner" Joan tries to help Morse rebuild his relationship with her father. Set twelve years after season 5.

Immediately following "Hello", Joan goes to Morse's place and they have dinner together. Still trying to figure out what if anything they mean to each other after all this time. Twelve years after season 5, the two have moved on with obvious results. The why remains a mystery.

Continuing in the series where Joan Thursday nee Prewitt reenters Endeavour Morses life. This follows the brief story "Another". Set twelve years after season 5, Morse has been able to locate Joan's address.

Following "Steeled" Morse is taking another approach to trying to get in touch with Joan. All of this is twelve years after season 5.

Following "Parting" Morse is trying to get in touch with Joan, but having some difficulties. This is twelve years after season 5.

Following "Stranger" Joan Thursday nee Prewitt and Morse are having dinner. Twelve years have passed since season 5. What happened in the interval is apparent, but the why is not.

10 to 12 years later

Post Season 5 . And after the previous story "The Morning After". Joan is adjusting to the new circumstances of her relationship with Morse.

Continuing on after the story "Coffee". The lovers come to grips with their new circumstances in the light of day. Post Season 5
