AN: Just had this idea from a picture my sister showed me. Enjoy!
Wrong
Detective Inspector Lestrade sighed. He really didn't want to do this.
He was used to press conferences, but this one he was secretly dreading. As he walked into the room, he was greeted by the symphony of noises and flashing lights of the press. He sat down, placing his coffee on the table and raising his hand for silence.
"We are here today," he started, "to remember the man Scotland Yard considers to be one of the greatest detectives that has ever lived." He took a deep breath, exhaled, and continued. "On this day, three years ago, that very man fell from the top of St. Bart's Hospital. His name, was Sherlock Holmes. I will now take questions."
The room buzzed with unrest. A reporter near the front raised her hand excitedly, saying, "Inspector Lestrade, was it true that Sherlock Holmes was a fraud?" She had a slightly smug look on her face.
Lestrade, however, was not fazed as he smiled softly and replied, "That's always the question, isn't it." He paused before continuing. "As much as people try to convince me that he was a fraud, or a fake, I refuse to believe such accusations. He was a genius; I saw it with my own two eyes."
The reporter waved her hand frantically again. "Did you ever doubt him, Detective."
Lestrade considered for a while before answering. "Like hell I did. Who didn't?" He turned his head away, slightly ashamed. "I don't understand why he led us to believe it was so, but he must have had a reason." The reporter pressed on. "Do you miss him?"
Lestrade didn't even hesitate when answering, "Yes. I don't understand his reason, I don't understand a lot of things. But I do know, that I am truly and deeply saddened by his death. But that's just it, isn't it. Death. He's gone, and I can't do anything to change that."
No less than a second had passed before every single cell phone in the room emitted a small buzz, sound, or tune, including Lestrade's. A text message. The phone fell to the floor and shattered. Lestrade was out the door before anyone could even read the simple message.
