Title: A brief encounter

Spoilers season 3 (specially Blink and the two last episodes)

It was difficult for Marco, even though he made his best to hide it. It was so awful seeing Diana with this guy. She was leaving, with him.

She had decided to go on a whim, not taking the time to warn anyone. That was so unlike her!

When Tom had told him, Marco couldn't believe it. Why would she leave like that ? Abandoning her job, her friends, everything in her life, to go to Spain, a country she never showed interest for before. That was why he came, to see this madness of his own eyes. Unaware of the reason behind this departure : she had met someone…

Not a pleasant surprise.

Face to face with the happy couple - no, the happy family, as Maia seemed to accept Ben so well; Marco made his best no to feel bitter. Couldn't say it was a success.

It seemed only a few days ago they were here, the both of them, and Diana was telling him it was over. She swore it wasn't his fault, he was a great guy and deserved the best. She just wasn't capable of giving it to him, she wasn't able to truly attach to anyone right now. She had come to realize she had some unresolved issues, thanks to this whole Blink case. Therefore she needed to think about her life, about herself. She needed time of her own to figure things out.

He could have told her it didn't matter. He didn't care about what she thought he deserved, he just wanted to be with her.

But she made so clear they were done that he let go. It was easier to hide his pain, pretend it was ok and leave.

Now, as he was greeting Diana, trying to express some delight he was far away from feeling, he couldn't fool himself anymore. He still loved Diana and couldn't see her go light-hearted. He felt betrayed she could jump into Ben's arms so easily. Where were her issues? Seemed she had resolved them pretty quick!

But not with him. Not for him. Guess he wasn't good enough for her after all.

He made a last attempt to smile to her, said good-bye and left hurriedly. Had he stayed any longer, he didn't know what he might have said out of temper.

He tried to find some relief in her departure for Spain. He wouldn't have to bear with her happiness, thankfully…
