Little ficcy, written for no apparent reason. The first one I have written in years. (Literally) Not sure where it came from, but enjoy.
Sit with me
When the whole sordid tale comes to light, when the media finally understands Gozaburo, you sit on the floor of your office for an entire day and tell yourself that you're not hiding.
You're simply trying to put together a statement, a way to get them off your back. A way to make them understand that you will not comment on it. You will not answer their questions. You will not allow them to force you to remember.
The fact that your mind is one big horrible blank, and you can't think of anything but how the hell you're going to make this go away, is something you refuse to acknowledge.
Mokuba called a little while ago. He's on a school trip to New York, but he promised he would be home soon. You told him it was fine, to enjoy his trip, and you know he's coming home anyway because you couldn't get your voice to stop shaking.
That was at six am. It's three pm now and you still haven't moved from your spot on the floor. You glance once at the clock as the door opens.
Yuugi comes in. Not the 'Pharaoh'. But the little one. Your classmate. He looks at you for a minute as if trying to decide what to say, and you stare right back trying to work up the energy to ask him how the hell he got in here. In the end, neither of you say anything at all, and he sits down next to you.
He sits close, but doesn't touch you. He puts his back to the wall, and doesn't look down on you, doesn't judge you, doesn't ask you for anything.
You sit together like that for a while. It feels like hours, but you know it can't be and finally you pull yourself together and turn your head to him.
"I'm fine Yuugi!"
He shrugs and offers you a sad little smile. "I know."
And you just know that was sarcastic, you just know he's laughing at you, and the anger builds up and no, you're not panicking, and you're sure as hell not going to cry, and he's still staring at you and you break.
"I'm fine!" you whisper, and refuse to meet his eyes. It's still little Yuugi. And he's still smiling that sad little smile.
"I know," he says again. "I know."

Well, that's all she wrote. Drop a review on the way out, pretty please.
