Moonshine

A seemingly little girl sat on the water's edge of a pond, in long robes of white and gold staff in hand. Tears ran down her face as they fell in the water below, and disappeared within its ripples. The moon reflected solemnly off its glassy and clear surface, as if it was mourning with the girl.

She had been crying over the loss of her dear guardians again. Even though she had known that they were in a better place, she couldn't help but feel awful. No one could cheer her up, not even Freida Love, whom among the other angels had the kindest of souls.

She sniffled. Why did they have to be killed by the demons? It wasn't fair! More tears fell out at this. At least she got to see one last glimpse of her parents at their final hour, before the demons robbed her of her eyesight.

"... Mom? Da? If you can hear me, then I want you to know I still love you guys, even though you're above and beyond," the girl finally said to the sky above.

In answer, the stars twinkled and shown a bit more brightly than before.

The girl sighed. She had better get home before the demons see her. As she got up and stretched, a voice called out, "There you are!"

She whirled around, staff raised in defense as she whacked downwards in the beginning of her Breaking Tyrann attack, but the staff missed its mark. She tried again, this time with an added kick, but alas that failed as well, and her staff was grabbed by her opposition.

"It's just me, Geno," said the voice again, and this time the girl recognized this as Dunamis.

Her pale blue eyes widened as she stuttered out, "S-s-sorry about t-that, I thought you were a-a demon..." She used Spellcheck, and was finally able to see Dunamis.

"That's alright," Dunamis replied, with no hint of anger or annoyance as he let go of the staff. "I came to get you, seeing as you were gone for a while and the other angels were beginning to worry."

"O-okay..." Why was she so nervous? Yes, Dunamis was her crush, but she shouldn't be acting like this... Right?

"You okay?" Dunamis asked, concerned. He took a closer look at her face. "... You've been crying again?" he asked.

Geno sniffed. "Yes..." Geno tearfully answered. Why was she so weak in front of one of the generals?

Strong arms wrapped around her as Geno saw Dunamis hugging her, her head on his warm chest.

"If you needed someone to talk to, you should've asked me first," he told her.

Geno blinked. "I thought I did talk to you..." Geno said. Must've been Tsubasa she'd went and talked to, she thought. They were similar in style.

"Nope, in fact I didn't get to see you all day until Hope Song brought it up," Dunamis said.

"Hm... Well thanks," Geno said. She had to admit, being in her crush's arms was a little embarrassing, but it actually felt quite nice. She gave him a small kiss on the cheek, making Dunamis slightly blush.

Geno giggled. "Embarrassed much?" Geno teased.

"No. Actually, I was glad when you fessed up," Dunamis answered, the blush fading and a twinkle of humor in his eyes before he gently kissed her on the lips.

Geno's eyes widened. So he knew? How?

Whatever to heck with this, I'm going to enjoy myself, Geno thought as she kissed back.

And the moon shone brighter than ever, no longer the solemn and sad face from before, but now showering happiness on the couple.
