Inuyasha drifted in his own thoughts as he sat in the tree above the group's current camp.
He sighed softly, his thoughts consumed by a certain black-haired miko that we all know and love, Oh Kagome... I love you so much; I just wish I could tell you. Maybe soon I'll be able to.
Suddenly, from below, he heard said girl stir restlessly and then he heard a noise that made his heart clench: she whimpered in pain.
Concerned, the hanyou jumped down from his perch to crouch by Kagome's side.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha whispered worriedly, "Are you okay?"
She looked up and he saw that her face was kinda pale and she looked like she was in pain. "Inuyasha," she whimpered, "My back hurts really bad."
His golden eyes softened and he whispered, "Where exactly does it hurt, Kagome?"
She sniffled, "My lower back, really low."
Concerned, he asked, "Want me to make it better?" She nodded and he shifted her so that she was in his lap, turning her gently so that her back was to him. Tenderly, he began to rub her back in soothing circles and cooed lovingly in her ear.
After a little while, Kagome began to fall asleep in his arms. Inuyasha noticed that his love was getting sleepy so he whispered softly in her ear, as he nestled her closer, "Go to sleep, Kagome. Get some rest."
She nodded and cuddled into his protective embrace more and mumbled, "Good night, Inuyasha."
He smiled tenderly as he watched over his sleeping love; he kissed her forehead sweetly and whispered, "I love you, Kagome. One day, you'll know that."
She shifted in her sleep and mumbled to the loving hanyou, "Love you too, Inuyasha. Night."
A dark blush spread across the inu-hanyou's face when he heard her voice but he smiled slightly and snuggled up with the young miko in his arms, stroked her hair lightly, and fell into a deep, comfortable sleep.
