Reason

One morning at Hogwarts Harry Potter didn't get out of bed.

His close friend Ron Weasley didn't know what to do and assuming that he was sick called for the school nurse.

Unable to get him into the medical wing Madame Pomfrey did all the diagnostic tests she could think of in the Gryffindor dormitories, and found Harry Potter to be in perfect health.

Still Harry refused to get out of bed.

Unsure of what to do Professor McGonagall was called to sort out the problem.

Professor McGonagall ordered Mr Potter out of bed informing him he would receive harsh punishments for missing so many classes without a legitimate excuse.

Still Mr Potter refused to get out of bed.

Many more were called to convince the boy to leave his bed.

Hermione pleaded

Ginny asked

Professor Snape sneered

Hagrid beseeched

Ron yelled

Angela implored

Colin begged

Proffesor Sprout ordered

Still Harry refused to leave his bed

Finally after many discussions, Professor Dumbledore was called to sort out the problem once and for all

He didn't ask, he didn't plead, he didn't order. He smiled softly at the form under the covers and without saying a word he started to cry.

The boy under the sheets moved as he heard his Headmaster weep, he turned his head to look at the water rolling down Dumbledore's wrinkled cheeks.

He hugged the man before him, as a son hugs his father after a fight.

No words were spoken between them but an understanding had been reached.

Dumbledore ordered everyone out of the room and told no one to disturb the boy within.

Harry Potter didn't get out of bed for the whole day… or the next one… or for the rest of the week. Food was sent up to him, homework delivered and dorm members moved. Life went on within Hogwarts and one boy never got out of bed.

Dumbledore never answered any questions as to why the boy was there, as to why he was allowing it, and eventually everyone gave up asking.

The answer was found when someone asked Neville Longbottom why he Harry wouldn't get up. His answer was simple.

"He needs to find his reason to get up."

And all anyone could do was pray that he found it soon.
