Nova Butterfly stood in her room.

What is this? Last she remembered was getting into bed and going to sleep, so why was she standing up? She looked around. Everything seemed normal, but why did she feel so weird?

BANG!

Nova whipped her head around to the source of the noise. It came from outside the door.

"Mom?" She called. She took a few cautious steps toward the bedroom door. She gently put her ear against the wood, listening carefully for any noises.

BANG!

It sounded like a stomp. Like a giants stomp. Nova was scared. She didn't want to know what was out there. She just wanted to crawl back into bed and go to sleep. She stepped away from the door quickly. She crawled half way into bed, when the door knob jiggled. It slowly turned.

"Mom? Dad?" She half whispered. She stood frozen in place. The door clicked as it opened. It slowly opened, creaking loudly.

Connor Sinclair.

Nova blew out a sigh of relief. It was just Connor. Nothing to be scared of. She slowly crept out of bed, putting distance between her and her bestfriend.

"Connor?" She whispered. "Hey, why are you-"

"Nova can you just shut up?" He said, his hands tightening into fists. Nova's eyes widened. What is this? "You never stop talking and just," He closed his eyes, turning his head slightly. "You're annoying." Nova took a few steps back.

"But.. But Connor I didn't do anything." She said sadly. He glared at her.

"I hate you." He yelled, furiously kicking her trash can. " I hate you so much. You ruined everything." He whispered. He then turned away, retreating from the door way. He was walking into the hallway, which was now in flames.

"Connor!" She screamed. He kept walking. And walking. And walking. And then he was gone. Gone into the bursting flames. Gone forever. Nova collapsed onto the carpet, crying fat tears or sorrow.

BANG!BANG!

Nova awoke, panting. She sat up, furiously looking around. She was in her bed, safe. The morning sun bled through the curtains. It was morning. And it was all just a stupid dream. She let out a sigh of relief. It was a dream, she thought, repeating it over and over. Connor was safe at his house. No fire, no anything.

"Novyyy!" A voice called from below. Demons? Nova's heart picked up speed. Was she in a dream? Is that possible? To dream within a dream? Suddenly her bedroom door burst open.

"Novy I've been calling you. You're so stupid." Her little brother Sol said, his grin similar to a baby sharks. She glared.

"Shut up, I just woke up." Nova said, getting out of bed.

"Yeah you better hurry. Don't wanna be late to meet your boyfriend." He teased. Nova's face burned.

"Get. Out!" She screeched, slamming her bedroom door furiously. God he was annoying. She locked it, just in case. She walked to her dresser, grabbing her usual clothes, which consisted of a shirt, red hoodie, blue jeans, and sneakers. She shoved them on, and headed down the stairs. She didn't bother showering since she had taken one last night.

The smell of toast was covering the kitchen. Her father worked on making some toast and eggs, while her mother clumsily poured orange juice.

"Morning. Don't need breakfast today. I'm meeting Connor so we could walk to school." Nova said, hopping on one foot as she strugged to put on her sneaker.

"You don't want me to drive you?" Her dad asked, slothering butter on a piece of toast. Nova shook her head.

"No it's okay." She said, grabbing her bag. It was freaking heavy. She put it on her back, grabbing an apple as she made her way to the door.

"Bye love you." Nova called, shutting the door. She rubbed her arms, trying to create body heat. Maybe she should've tooken her dad up on his offer. It was 7 AM and she was outside on a January morning. She shivered, her breath visible in the cold air.

She walked to Connor's house, already thinking up their conversation. They had some stuff they needed to work out.
