Teddy waited out of sight along the corridor he knew his almost brother would be walking along any minute now. He heard laughter, and then the sight of messy jet black hair turning down into the corridor. Here he was. James Potter walked down the hall, laughing with a bunch of his friends and just as he was about to pass Teddy's hiding spot, he was yanked over into the shadows.

'Ow! What was that for?' he asked, rubbing the spot on his arm where Teddy had grabbed him.

'Top secret stuff. Can't have anyone hearing this.' Teddy mumbled. He checked to make sure that James' now slightly confused friends had kept walking.

'What are you on about?' James grumbled. Teddy could tell he still hadn't gotten over his 'bruised arm'.

'Oh come on, it couldn't have hurt that badly.' He rolled his eyes. 'Anyways, I'm talking about this...' He reached inside the pocket of his robes and pulled out a very old looking piece of parchment.

James stared at it, raising a brow. 'And what exactly is this.'

Giving James a look that clearly said Teddy thought he was an idiot, he pulled out his wand.

'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.'

'Oh!' James exclaimed loudly. 'It's your map!'

'Shhh.'' Teddy hushed, glancing around furiously. 'Filch could be around any corner. Merlin knows what would happen if he found out I had this.'

'So, why are you showing it to me then?'

'Well, your dad gave it to me when I went into my first year, and as I'm finished in a couple weeks, I thought it would do an ickle second year like yourself some good,' he said, laughing a bit at the annoyed expression on James' face. 'Besides, your grandad was one of the creators, along with my dad. It only seems right.'

Then it seemed as if James had finally gotten it. 'You mean you're giving this to me?' He was now a lot more excited than he had been before.

'Loaning it to you,' Teddy corrected. 'I will be wanting it back someday. Well, no time soon of course, but I think it would be a nice thing to pass on to my kids if I ever have em. Course you'll probably want to do the same. Either way, it'll still be in the creators bloodline.'

James was now staring at the map with a growing grin upon his face. He watched as people all over the castle milled about.

'What kind of stuff have you done with this?' James asked, his light brown eyes full of curiosity.

'I think I'll leave that to your imagination. You can find out all the maps secrets on your own, just like I did.'

James nodded. He had now taken the map from Teddy and was watching some of his cousins walking around on the map.

'Remember, to wipe it clean just tap your wand to it and say Mischief Managed.' He turned to leave for his next class, but stopped. 'Oh, and make sure to break some rules with it for me. Well, maybe not many just yet. I can't have you getting into too much trouble and having it confiscated be Filch.'

With that, he left. His bright blue hair disappeared around a corner leaving James alone. He had done his job, the marauders would forever live on in future generations of trouble makers.
