You Can Still Be Free
Cool breeze and autumn leaves
Slow motion daylight…
The glorious summer has faded into autumn. There are no trees in Cyclonia, but the winds pick up fallen leaves, carrying them with invisible arms into this part of Atmos.
A lone pair of watchful eyes
Oversee the living…
He's there, like he is everyday. And he is no more alive than he was before.
Feel the presence all around
A tortured soul
A wound unhealing…
He doesn't like to go to the dungeons. The prisoners' screams bother him. He didn't care when he dragged them in, one by one. But their screams remind him of screams from the past, of his team mates as they fell, one by one, into the Wasteland.
No regrets or promises
The past is gone…
The past never leaves. And with it are memories he would rather forget.
But you can still be free
If time will set you free…
Time is a cruel mistress. She chooses which wounds to heal. She drags on the pain. And she's got him bound in her chains.
Time now to spread your wings
To take to flight
The life endeavour…
He mounts his Switchblade and takes to the skies. The one place where the weight of the chains is lighter.
Aim for the burning sun…
He can't see it, but he knows it's there. It's infinite, much like his pain.
You're trapped inside
But you can still be free
If time will set you free
But it's a long long way to go…
A caged bird. A tethered hawk. He roams aimlessly.
Keep moving way up high
You see the light
It shines forever…
In this dark corner of the universe, sunlight is blinding. Yet so beautiful.
Sail through the crimson skies
The purest light
The light that sets you free
If time will set you free…
The light fades rapidly, the sky returns to its reddish hue. And time still has her fingers wrapped around him.
Sail through the wind and rain tonight
You're free to fly tonight
And you can still be free
If time will set you free
He realizes he can't go on forever. But he doesn't stop. Time can hold him back, but he will test the limits of her chains.
And going higher than mountain tops
And go high like the wind don't stop
And go high
Free to fly tonight
Free to fly tonight…
The chains are taut.
He returns and looks back out. He didn't get what he wanted, he never will. The caged bird must live out the life its master wants. And so he will, obediently.
But he can't help and wonder, will he ever be free?
