It's been said that the king of hearts is a sad man that knows nothing of love.
He only knows a child's diary he keeps under his pillow, filled with old rose petals and letters of love for a girl who doesn't even remember his name, and just sits next to him and calls him 'King'.
He doesn't know love, but he tends to the feelings of his people who have no feeling for his feelings.
He does so to keep his people strong and his country even stronger.
The woman beside him is just his 'Queen', not his lover, wife, or even apart of his life, because after the rings were exchanged and the 'I do's" gone, here was nothing left in the pot that grew the rose a boy gave to a girl, whos's beautiful petals only ended up in nothing more than a childs diary filled with written words of unreturned feelings and old love letters composed for a girl who doesn't bother to remember his true name.
But as he looks out over the courtyard, and watches a foreigner paint white roses red, he remember being a child, watching a child from the same window as she play 'Queen'; before growing up to be the real queen with him as her king of a country of love that he has never felt.
And as she abandons the throne and him, she ends the final chapter of a tragic love story that only had a one-sided love to begin with.
And he watches from the same window over the courtyard as the new 'Queen' comes, he decides there is nothing left to say between him and a woman who is no longer here; and as he watches her enter the palace, the only thing left to do is dust of his crown, and play this new game through._
This is kind of like the untold story of the king of hearts. Its also a bit of a mash up between the original Alice in Wonder land and Heart no Kuni no Alice. It a bit OOC because the king doesn't really have a character and I took the first line from a Hetalia doujin (usuk The Last Rose) As always R&R.
