There was a legend told to the hatchlings of a distant Fae colony, about a flight of plague-ridden Faes headed by a violent matriarch seeking revenge for her exile, and how she and her progeny brought rot and sickness with them. The future hatchlings looked out their nests and down at the twisted earth and rotten tree beneath them, and they felt safe in the story of their mothers.
