Title: Heart to Heart
Summary: Dylan has a talk with Trance after "What Will Be Was Not". Dylan and Trance friendship
Rating: K+
As they walked back through the tunnels of Seefra, Trance hung her head low, looking ashamed. She felt ashamed for running away, away from Dylan and the rest of her friends, and she didn't quite believe Dylan when he informed her that Rhade's comment had been directed towards him, and not her. She was afraid that Dylan was mad at her. But Dylan wasn't mad at her, and to reassure her of this, he put his arm around her shoulders and held her close as they made their way through the dark tunnels.
He understood that she was scared and confused, and still had hardly any recollection of the past. Seeing her like this broke his heart. When they arrived back on the Andromeda, Dylan led Trance to hydroponics, once her favorite place, so he could have a talk with her. Even though she didn't remember caring for plants in there, Dylan knew that the setting would be comforting to her. He was right; shortly after they entered the room, Dylan felt Trance's grip on his hand loosen slightly.
They sat down on the bench and Dylan fumbled for words. He wanted to talk to her about what had happened that day, but he didn't want to upset her anymore. Nevertheless, it had to be done. He put his arm around her and squeezed her small shoulder; she looked up at him.
"Trance, whenever something's bothering you, you can always come to me." He said, trying to break the ice.
"I know."
"So then why didn't you come to me today when you were upset? Trance, ever since I met you I've loved you like you're my daughter." He looked into her eyes while absent-mindedly rubbing her shoulder. "You know that what Rhade said was about me, right? You may have brought us here, but it wasn't your fault."
Trance sighed, clearly exhausted. "I know that now."
"You know, I was very scared today. Scared I might not find you." Dylan tried to suppress a shudder. There were so many goons lurking in the tunnels of Seefra. They could have hurt her, robbed her of her innocence… He pushed the horrifying thought out of his mind. I have her, she's back with us now. She's safe. He thought to himself.
"I'm sorry Dylan, I didn't mean to scare you." Trance lay her head on his shoulder, gathering not only comfort from him but warmth. She was still recuperating from giving her energy to the ship, so she got tired and cold very easily.
The captain could sense how energy deprived she was. "Come on Trance, you should probably get to bed early tonight." He stood up and held out his hand to her. She took it, and they walked to her quarters.
Dylan had his back turned while Trance changed into her pajamas, and when she was finished he pulled the blankets on her bed down. When she was settled in, he sat down on the edge of the bed and put his large hand to the side of her face.
"You know I love you, right?" He asked.
Trance nodded. "I love you, too."
"And that I'll always be here for you?"
Trance nodded again.
"Alright then, sleep tight." Dylan planted a kiss on her forehead before getting up, shutting off the light, and quietly exiting the room.
