A/N: Okay so this is actually one of my first non-Titans story. This one is Avatar based, specifically focusing on Toph. I like Toph; she's got this humor to her that I can relate to. Plus I find her to be just so cute. Anyway I hope you like it.
She liked him. Toph knew that of all the members of their little group Sokka was her favorite. She liked Aang and Katara well enough but Sokka was the one she was most drawn to.
She knew people would wonder how she could like what she couldn't see, but to Toph that was the best part of this whole crush thing she was dealing with. She couldn't see his face or his eyes or anything else that people usually based their feelings upon. For her it wasn't his looks or his status or any of the conventional things that drew her to him and she liked it that way. For her it meant that she liked for who he was, liked him for himself.
She was drawn to his humor. His unintentional I'm –not trying- to be but I am humor. It was endearing and oddly enough it was also cute. She was drawn to the way he would try so hard to come up with scientific ideas that would be equal or greater to the bending skills of the rest of the group. It meant he had a brain somewhere in there. She was drawn to his heart. To the way he cared for those around him and those he'd lost. Drawn to the way he fought, not only for his home and his people, but also for the people he had met during their travels. She was drawn to the way he took care of their little group, the way he took care of his little sister, the way he counseled Aang on having fun and on being a kid, and the way he looked after her making sure that she was all right and comfortable.
She knew he still cared for the lost love he spoke of. And even though she was blind she could clearly see that there was still some chemistry between him and the Kiyoshi warrior Suki. She knew that the inability to see put her at a disadvantage, especially when compared to a princess and a warrior. But she also knew that it was her strength. It made her tougher, more determined and stronger. It meant she had to make him see past her exterior, past her empty eyes. She had to make him see her the way she saw him.
It would be hard work. A challenge. Much harder than learning how to manipulate the world around her, the world she felt. But Toph was nothing if not determined. Even if, in the end he didn't share those feelings, she would let him know how she felt anyway. She wouldn't be afraid and she wouldn't back down, and hide away with her feelings. After all she hadn't runaway from the safety of her home to continue living a lie. She was up for the challenge of making people see her, making people see beyond the blindness. She would make them see.
A/N: So yeah, there it is. I know it's really short and a little rough but I'm hoping that my next one goes a little better.
