A/N: I haven't done shinigamis for a while...so this happened. sorta-ish based on an episode of HIMYM, I can't for the life of me remember which one.

After a few years in their relationship, Eric and Alan didn't need words to communicate. Which was good, as they really didn't others to hear them.

You ask him Alan urged

Why do I have to do it?

You're closer to him in rank

Eric rolled his eyes Fine.

"Um, Will?" He asked the man who was sipping his scotch, "Not that we mind, but, why did you decide to come with us?"

Will glanced at him over the scotch. "It is customary, is it not, that a group celebrates their return from a long mission with a round of drinks?"

"Well, yes…" Eric said, "But…but, um…"

"You don't typically join us." Alan finished. Eric squeezed his hand in thanks.

Will stared between the two of them, his face stony and unreadable as always. All the couple could hope for is that they hadn't accidentally offended him in some way. "If you must know," He finally said, "Sutcliffe and I had a fight just before I left on assignment. Whenever we fight he tends to attempt revenge in some way, and I am not prepared as of yet to deal with whatever it is." He turned back to his scotch.

Eric and Alan exchanged glances. Will and Grell were known to often get in fights, both before and after they got together as a couple. This idea of revenge was one Eric and Alan hadn't heard before. "Um, if you don't mind me asking," Alan asked timidly, "What was the fight about?"

Will adjusted his glasses, "I accidentally threw away his make up when he left it on the kitchen counter." He took another sip of scotch before continuing, "No doubt he's bought pounds more of it with my money, or some such. Or fetched the soiled make up from the trash and stained the carpet."

"Or maybe," and then, Alan suggested the worst possible thing Grell could possibly do to Will.

Will put the glass down. "He wouldn't."

Alan shrugged, "Well, it is Grell-sempai. He's somewhat unpredictable."

Will waited a moment for the idea to settle in, then, shot out of his seat, running for home.

"Finally," Eric said, wrapping an arm around Alan's shoulders and kissing him on the head. Alan giggled. "Do you really think Grell—"

"Oh, of course he didn't." Alan smiled, "But I had to get Will to leave us alone somehow."

Eric chuckled to at his boyfriend's deviousness.

Will burst into the apartment he shared with Grell. It was a disaster. Everything, Every wall and piece of furniture was bright red. "Grell?" He called into the apartment.

Grell walked in smoothly, a sly smile on his face, "Hello, Will~" he smiled wider, "Do you like the new decorum?" He gestured to the red all around him.

Will didn't look at the furniture or the walls, or even the carpet. He ran up to the red reaper and pulled him into a tight hug. Grell's smile dissolved in shock, "Will—what-?"

Will whispered into his ear, "Thank death you're still here…" He rocked Grell, who was still dazed, back and forth in his arms. "Alan thought you might have left me."

Grell smiled again, but this one was sweet, unlike the sly one earlier, and gently wrapped his own arms around him. "Not over this. Not over anything." He whispered back. He bit his lip and paused for a moment, "So, you're not mad about the apartment?"

"Oh, I'm furious." Will said into Grell's shoulder, "But I can deal with it in a moment."

"No, no," Grell said, putting a hand behind Will's head, "No need for that." He kissed the side of the tall reaper's head, "Let's just stay like this for a little bit."

And so they did.
