Eric Bishop has been working at Black Mesa for just over two years now. Though he is well paid and has good job security, Eric finds himself wondering if he could be doing more with his life. Then, everything changes when an experiment goes wrong and interdimensional monsters begin to invade Black Mesa, killing all in their path.

He shrugged. "World's full of surprises."

"Gordon isn't here because he's three halls down, hooked up to every machine we can think of just to keep him breathing. They're too scared to even touch him right now. You know why? Because he has so many concussions that his skull started leaking into his brain. Because we pushed him until he broke. That's why you didn't see him out there." Two-shot.

Alyx Vance couldn't believe it. Barney Calhoun couldn't believe it. Hell, no one wanted to believe it. Gordon Freeman was gone. Black Mesa scientist. Legendary resistance leader against the hellish Combine forces was gone.

I've fleshed this out a bit and modified the ending slightly. Other than that, it should be faithful to the games.

Funny how reputations aren't worth defending unless they belong to those you care about. Plus, Gordon learns multiple definitions for "heroism" after stumbling onto a rebel hideout.

This is my continuation of the Half-Life series. Alyx and Gordon find the Borealis with a support team. Once they find it, though, they find that the Combine got there first-meaning they have the superweapon, too. Worse yet, the enemy now have weaponized holograms: holograms that can defend themselves. When none of your weapons can touch the enemy, is there any chance of success?
