"Come on little one." Regina spoke to Henry as she held onto his tiny 9-month-old hands lightly with her fingers. His face filled with joy as he looked at his mother.
He lightly squeezed on her thumbs with his hands. Regina kissed his little nose.
"Come on Henry, you can do it. Mommy is right here." Regina smiled while lowering her head to meet his brown eyes.
Henry moved his left tiny hand from Regina's fingers and lightly touched her nose with his pointer finger. Regina kissed his hand then made an elephant noise on it. Henry giggled at the funny feeling.
Regina's smile widened from ear to ear as she giggled herself.
"My silly boy."
Henry paused his giggles and took in the familiarity of his mother's voice. Then Regina made a funny face by crossing her eyes and puffing out her cheeks making a weird noise again. Henry giggled once more and had to balance himself again by taking Regina's pointer finger with his left hand.
"My silly silly boy." Regina whispered to herself as she watched Henry for a second longer.
Henry poked out his tiny tongue causing a bubble to form on his mouth. Regina laughed at the adorable site and moved her hand to tap his nose with her right pointer finger lightly.
"Okay Henry, I'm going to let you go for just a moment. But Mommy is right here." Regina moved her body back a little bit just so she was at a good distance as she held onto Henry's hands. She took a deep breath and then let go of his hands.
He stood there wobbling a little and then he reached out for his mom.
"Come on Henry, come to me. You can do it." Regina reassured with a smile. She held out her hands ready to grab him if he fell.
Henry looked confused for a moment and then he decided to move one of his feet forward. He struggled a bit but he managed to get his foot firmly down on the ground. And then he tried the other.
Regina's heart pounded fast, tears formed in her eyes as she watched Henry's first steps. She was so proud of him as he made it to her. She picked Henry up lifting him into the air and twirled him around. The room filled with laughter once more as Regina wrapped him in a hug.
She pulled back and a giant smile was on Henry's face. He studied his mother's face once more and took a lock of her hair with his hands. He felt how soft it was and felt how warm Regina was. He felt safe.
"I'll always be here for you little one." Regina said while she leaned in to kiss his forehead. It had been, one of the best days of Regina's life.
