Reunited

The explosion knocked him off his feet and sent him several yards from where he had been running. He lay there face up, eyes wide open, covered in dirt and blood. The ground shook below him, but still he lay there almost in a dream-like state, the distant sound of thunder creeping closer to his broken body.

All at once, he felt as if his body was rising towards the sky, the golden rays of the sun enveloping him. He was distantly aware of gentle soothing touches running up and down his uninjured arm, but couldn't tear his eyes away from the sky above.

Suddenly, he gasped as an explosion of pain ripped through his body. He now noticed that the golden rays of sun had turned yellow. With some effort, brown eyes met blue optics that he had not seen for over a decade.

"Bee," he said shakily. Another explosion of pain rocked through his body and he let out a cry.

"Oh, Sam," said the Autobot brokenly, running one over-sized finger up and down the only part of the man, not boy's, body that wasn't injured.

"You came back," Sam said through shallow breaths. It was becoming harder and harder to keep his eyes open.

"Don't close your eyes, Sam," Bumblebee said firmly, trying to keep the panic he felt from reaching his vocal processor.

"Bee…I-," Sam gasped, eyelids becoming heavy.

"Please, Sam," Bumblebee begged with an edge of hysteria to his voice now, gently pulling Sam closer to his chassis.

Sam reached an unsteady hand up to Bumblebee's face and smiled through his pain. Bumblebee took the hand gently in his much larger one.

"I'm so..rry..Bee…can't," Sam panted as the pain grew unbearable and his body was wracked with tremors.

Bumblebee let out a cry, as he rocked Sam in his arms. All at once, Sam was still.

"Sam?" Bumblebee whispered hoarsely.

"…love…you…," Sam exhaled and knew no more.

"NO, SAM!" Bumblebee cried, hugging Sam's lifeless body tighter. He rocked and rocked the human close to his large body, unable to accept that he had failed at protecting Sam…loving Sam.

Bumblebee held Sam in his arms, for what seemed like hours. His eyes clouded over as he replayed all of the mistakes that had led to Sam's unexpected death. Grief suddenly turned to rage as he remembered who had kept them apart . Blue became red, as he gently placed Sam's now cold body in the arms of a waiting soldier.

"PRIME!" He roared, the earth trembling beneath his feet.
