AN: This is just a little random Brendan/May (or whatever you want to call
them) vignette thingy brought on by random genki j-pop and close proximity
to sugar. Written because the ending cinematic after the Elite Four is
just so darn cute (with pretty piano background to boot!), and to prove to
myself that I can write het fluff. If this resembles any other previously
existing fic, I apologize in advance. ::bows::
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Precisely Then ~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I first knew I liked you that day I became the champion.
It was after I had won my battle with Steven, after my Blaziken had dealt the final blow to his weakened Aggron, after I had stood there breathing as one with my team, after the euphoria of victory had washed over me.
It was after you came rushing up the steps to give me the by-then-dated advice, after you congratulated me and flashed me your smile, after you had looked as though that same smile would never shine again when you learned you couldn't share in the final acknowledgement of my achievement.
It was after I had registered myself in the League computer, after I had reentered the battle room, after I had found you already departed, after I had walked outside without a spring in my step and called on my Swellow to fly me back to the mainland.
It was after I had landed in Lilycove in the midst of television crews, after I had pushed past them all, after I had unfolded my bike and sped away into the lengthening afternoon, after I began heading for home.
It was during the moment when I finally caught sight of a familiar shock of sun-bleached white hair passing me on the high road, during the half-hour that I slowly caught up to you in, during the minute that it took you to notice you weren't alone in your ride through the mountains.
It was during the moment that you finally looked my way, during the moment when we smiled at each other, during the hour more that we rode on in companionable silence, during the second I first realized that our shadows merged on the road beside us in the dying sunlight.
It was before we finally cycled onto the small path in front of our houses, before we saw the small gathering of friends and family, before I felt guilty that the celebration was all for me and not for you, before we slipped away from the party a half hour later, before we sat in that small tree and gazed at the moon.
That was when I first knew that I liked you.
It was after you kissed me, that I knew I loved you.
AN: Aaaack, fluff. Review please, and let me know if it was worth staying up the extra half-hour to write and post it. Arigato!
