Percy POV:
"So, Grover how are things with you and Juniper?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him and made him laugh.
"We're good. It's nice to finally have someone who gets the whole 'Pan" thing, ya know?"
"That's awesome man, I'm really happy for you guys. I'm starving, you wanna order a pizza?"
"Half sausage, half pepper?"
"Sweet."
It's been awhile since me and Grover have just hung out. Usually when we see each other there is some deadly monster chasing us. I thought tonight would be simple, easy, fun. I am usually wrong when it comes to things like that. I was just about to call for our pizza when my phone rang. You see some half-bloods had worked with the Gods to create a cell phone that wouldn't attract monsters. It is pretty much the best invention since microwave dinners. Me and the kitchen don't get along too well.
The caller I.D. said Annabeth. We have been dating for two years now, and they have been the best times of my life. My heart still beats faster every time I see her number.
"Hey Annabeth."
"H-Hey. Are you busy?" she sounded nervous and worried.
"I'm just with Grover. Why, what's the matter?"
"N-Nothing. Um, never mind. Just tell Grover I say hi."
"Hey, what's wrong?" I was starting to get concerned now.
"I just need you. I was wondering if I could stay at your place tonight. But it-it's fine. Have fun with Grover."
"No it's fine. Come over, we were gonna order a pizza. "
"Percy, I don't want to crash your guys night."
"Annabeth, listen to me. If you need me, I'm here. I'll see you soon?"
"Um, y-yeah. I'll be, over, soon." It sounded like she was close to crying. When I hung up I walked back to the living room where Grover was watching some nature documentary.
"What happened? Who was on the phone?" Since Grover was a Satyr he could read emotions.
"It was Annabeth. I don't know she sounded really upset. She's coming over I think." I ran my fingers through my hair. I've been doing that a lot lately, my hair usually looks like I have standing in front of an industrial fan.
Grover ordered the pizza, and it came a half hour later. It brought a huge thunderstorm. The rain seemed angry. I still hadn't seen Annabeth even though her apartment was only a 15 minute subway ride from here. I was about to call her when the doorbell rang. I opened it to find Annabeth standing in the pouring rain, tears streaming down her cheeks. I pulled her inside and took off her wet jacket.
"You walked here in the pouring rain? " She just looked at me and started bawling. I pulled her into a hug and kissed her hair. That's when I noticed the cut on her forehead. It sort of looked like someone hit her with the butt of a sword. Although it was hard to tell without cleaning the wound. We stayed like that for a while, until Grover came up behind us. I knew he could how we felt just from the look on his face. So much for my simple night.
