Leslies Dream

A Republic of Doyle Fan fiction

By Dana M. (A-Mind-In-Thought)

Just a little romantic story to entertain everyone while we wait for the new season in the fall.

The shadow watched from a distance as Leslie slept; making sure no one hurt her. It moved around the old office like a ghost, protecting her.

"Jake" Leslie whispered longingly from her sleep. It had been three weeks since she had last seen him. After he disappeared she decided not to take the job in Ottawa, if only to look for Jake. Now even she was skeptical that Jake would ever find his way back to her. Mal had offered to let her stay in the office. Naturally she took the offer, glad that he had brought that option to the table. Inside the almost abandoned office she would sleep in Jakes pullout, drink his whiskey and even wore his shirts when she didn't have to go to work. Mass amounts of pictures and reports about Jake were posted onto the bulletin board. Mal and the rest of the crew had already given up on the idea that Jake was still alive, but Leslie could never think that.

Every night she had dreamed about him, hoping to hear his voice. But she knew it would likely never happen. Even so she still continued on with that fantasy of hers. Tonight was different though, she would have sworn Jake was there with her.

"Leslie!" Jake screamed from the cold abandoned docks. The last place he was ever seen.

"Jake!' Leslie screamed back. They were at different ends of the dock, torn apart by cargo and crates. They both looked around frantically for each other, both hoping to catch glimpses of the other.

"Follow the sound of my voice!" Jake yelled out to Leslie. They circled around each other, trying to find a way to reach the other. Finally after what seemed like ages they were in arms reach. Leslie rushed over to him and hugged him until he was suffocating. Then Jake pointed Leslies head to his with two fingers and smiled as he said "I missed you." By this time Leslie had lunged at his lips, pulling him into a long and passionate kiss. She pulled away only for short gasps of air. Afterwards she just stood there embraced by his strong arms. "I love you" she managed to say muffled by his chest.

"Not as much as I love you." He whispered back into her golden blonde hair. They started walking away, arm in arm, from the place that took Jake away from Leslie, and it seemed as though Leslie would never let go of Jake ever again.

Outside of Leslies dream the dark shadow emerged from behind the door. A shadow Leslie would recognize from a mile away. It was Jakes. He crawled into his bed with her and just hugged her. "I love you, and I missed you so much."

"Jake." Leslie whispered again. She didn't need to wake up to know Jake was with her, and she would do anything to keep him there.
