Kanna Hitsune sat on the roof of the Squad 9 barracks. She needed time to think. How? How could Captain Tousen do this? She thought silently to herself. "I thought I'd find you up here." Came the voice of her best friend and Lieutenant, Shuuhei Hisagi.

"You know me to well." She replied looking back at him with the fakest smile she could muster.

"Uh oh what's wrong?"

"Nothing. Why would you think there was?"

"Because I have know you long enough to tell the difference between your fake smile and real one"

"Oh" She replied pulling her legs to her chest and resting her chin on her knees.

"So what's wrong?" Shuuhei said taking a seat next to her.

Kanna took a deep breath and said "Why Shuuhei, Why did he turn his back on us? How, how could he do this?"

"I don't know Kanna"

Kanna's tears began to fall like the rain. "I feel as if everything he has ever taught me has been nothing but lies. How can I trust anyone ever again?"

"Shh. You can trust me Kanna just as you always have." He said pulling Kanna into his arms in a comforting embrace.

"I know" Kanna didn't know why but something about Shuuhei always had a way of making her feel better. It was like he could always find the right words to say to ease the pain in her heart.

Shuuhei stood up and said "Come on. Let's go inside. It looks like it's going to rain soon"

Kanna took hold of her best friends hand and the two of them walked inside just in time before the rain began to come down like a waterfall.
