Sea and Sky
And when you look down in the foamy sea
Into the roaring waves and wondrous deep
Remember, love, the life that is set free
That screams of life and of the purest sleep
And hear the gulls cry at the cliffs, so white
Just hear the echo of the sea beyond,
Remember, love, awaken to this sight
That sets you free from this small, shallow pond
Why live right here in this small shallow pool?
Why spend your life with mud pies? This I cry.
Remember, love, to drop your childish tool
So you could grasp His hands to go and fly
And listen to the wind blow past your ear
As you soar with the wings made just for you
Remember, love, fly on beyond this fear
As well as from the traps around there, too.
And look not at the paltry gifts they hold
Not at the glassy baubles of no price
Remember, love, to watch the rope of gold
To let it bring you into paradise.
And watch as you ascend from this old world
Into a new one that is up above.
Remember, love, to thank the One that's furled
In Light, in Grace, in Truth, in Strength, in Love
