This is a new story that my friend (Crescent77) and I have worked on. Yup. Is another story dedicated to 6959. I hope you readers will enjoy this story.
Prologue
It had taken 15 minutes, a mere quarter of an hour but far too long in the opinion of what once used to be the corridor and the Grand Hall of the Vongole headquarters. Glass, crystal, pieces of wall, carpet, splintered wood and twisted metal were strewn everywhere, the scene of a hurricane's leavings, a hurricane that had a very well-known source: Hibari Kyouya and Rokudo Mukuro, the strongest of the Vongole guardians, the Cloud and Mist. Everything was collateral when they fought and most wisely chose to stay away until either Reborn (who rarely tried to step in) or Tsuna (who had to beat both his guardians down more than once) stopped them from destroying the whole base in what Reborn had sardonically called 'foreplay'.
"Let's end this." Tonfa raised in a final, decisive challenge, no retreat in that intense glare.
Only this time was far more different than previous times before.
"Oya?" A twisted smirk and a swirling red eye, then a nod of cheerful acceptance before a trident manifested itself in gloved hands.
"Stop it! STOP! STOP!" Gokudera's shouts and curses filled the corridor, drowned by the roar of destruction from outside his system C.A.I. Big words slid into his vocabulary as his furious screams escalated, peppered with his yells of mounting paperwork as well as the clean-up that he always found himself stuck with after one of their infamous fights.
Beside him, Tsuna cowered, sensing that something was different but not entirely sure what as he tried to lend his own stammering protests to Gokudera's own voice, only to be easily drowned by all the cacophony going on around him. No one noticed that he was actually trying to get Gokudera to let his two Guardians fight it out, their battle seemed much more intense than anything before and Tsuna somehow knew that this was going to be their last 'corridor-destroying' fight.
Mukuro's mouth was fixed in an amused curl even as he took a tonfa in his ribs, barely dodging in time to escape crushed bones. He had nicked Hibari several times as well and while possessing him was possible, that would be 'cheating' and he rather enjoyed fighting with the Cloud, his opposite, his equal and his reflection. They were so similar yet so very different as well; it had been natural for them to enjoy their connection as beautifully savage as it was. He snorted in amusement; after all they were the same kind of animal. But it seemed that Hibari wanted this to end. There could be only ONE reason.
Slipping under Hibari's guard for a moment, he whispered teasingly into his ear, "Who is it, mio caro (my dear)?"
There was a soft snarl before tonfa wreathed in the flame of the Cloud whizzed past his nose. Laughing, he danced away before curving in for another attack. Definitely, he would definitely miss the skylark but he too had another avenue of entertainment that was waiting to be explored. Now if only he could figure out exactly who had caught the other's interest.
"Again?" Yamamoto and Reborn had appeared seemingly out of nowhere and were now watching the fight from the safety of Gokudera's system C.A.I. The swordsman had eagerly latched on to the battle, his eyes watching avidly as the two monsters battled it out. Already it was coming to an end and he grinned as his eyes followed their movements easily in the chaos.
It was an instant that Hibari's eyes darted to the side, an instant when his attention was elsewhere when before nothing and no one could divert his attention from a fight with Mukuro. The Mist's eyes narrowed at that sudden revelation, intense amusement dancing in his expression.
"Kufufufufufu…" His merry chortle alerted the Cloud of his own lapse and Hibari's lips curled into a snarl.
"I'll bite you to death!" His quiet voice laced with a malevolent promise as his leap at the illusionist caused what remained of the floor beneath him to shatter.
"Mi mancherai, mio caro, (I will miss you, my dear)" he simpered mockingly as he dodged, calling out illusions with his flame. "Addio…(Farewell)"
They lunged at each other and Gokudera frantically tightened his defenses around himself and the others. Tsuna stared in awe as Cloud and Mist collided with a boom, the aftershock whipping around the four spectators.
As the dust cleared, Reborn sighed, seeing the combatants, bleeding and panting in the center of a mini crater surrounded by the debris of their battle. Giovanni was going to froth at the mouth when he saw the destruction this battle had caused. "I hope you've settled your affair," he snorted and walked away.
"Wow," Yamamoto breathed, a wide grin stretching his mouth, his eyes shining at having witnessed the epic battle.
Mukuro smirked, casually walking up to the Cloud before suddenly grabbing the short hair and yanking him forward to crush their mouths together. It was only a moment before a fist crashed into his cheek, sending him sprawling. Lying there laughing breathlessly, he stared up at Hibari who spat to the side.
"One for the road," he grinned unrepentantly as Hibari snorted at him, a miniscule curl of his lips promised that there would more battles in the future, though never the same again. The Mist and Cloud had officially 'broken up'.
