The One.

A short Fanfic by katieannies90

This is my first "official" Fanfic. Let me just say that Nick and Jess are the most wonderful thing on television right now. I love reading fanfiction because people are so creative and it helps get all of us New Girl addicts through these crazy hiatuses! I will warn you, this is going to be SUPER fluffy and full of FEELINGS. Not silly fluffy but emotionally fluffy. I've had enough angst with these two for now. (Don't worry I love their angst) but I just wanted this to be a super descriptive, emotional look into the night of "Virgins" and my take on the morning after. I'm going to take a little liberty with the storyline so it will not be exactly what actually happens in the show….maybe this will be a one-shot but it could possibly be more. Just review and let me know if you want me to keep going. Maybe I'll have some time to add to it or do a future fic as a continuation.

Disclaimer: I do not own New Girl or these lovely characters. Some genius people over in La-La Land do and I love them for it.

It was warm, very warm in fact. Not too warm but the blissful kind of warm you feel when you slowly wake up in the morning buried under your favorite comforter. She could feel the morning sun peeking through her curtains, casting a soft warm glow around her room while her mind continued to swim through several levels on consciousness. She could feel herself waking up and fought it, forcing her eyes to remain shut, trying to return to the wonderful dream she had been having only moments ago…

His eyes… so full of wonder as they took in the sight of her bare body in the flicker of the candlelight. Those eyes she had looked into a million times before were darkened with heated desire and dare she say it…love? She smiled at him and leaned back onto the mattress, never breaking eye contact. Her heart pumped at an impossible rate as she watched Nick Miller shed his last article of clothing and stand before her in complete surrender. Her eyes widened at the sight of him. Nick's jaw clenched slightly as he watched her take him in with those impossibly blue eyes that somehow seemed to sparkle even in the dark. Jess' breathing was becoming increasingly more ragged as her desire began to build. It was time…this was it. Nick stepped forward and climbed onto the bed coming up over Jess and lowered his mouth to hers for a sweet, slow kiss that sent a million electric currents through her veins. She brought her arms up around his neck where her hands found his tousled hair and deepened their kiss until they both had to stop for air. He looked down at her with such intensity that she felt as if she would spontaneously combust at any moment. She felt venerable, scared, excited, and nervous all at once…

"Are you sure…?" Nick whispered breathlessly, a look of tortured longing in his eyes.

Her lips parted slightly as she drew in a quick breath and nodded her head, never more sure of anything in her life.

With that he took a deep, steadying breath, and slipped into oblivion…

Such a perrrrfect dream, she thought to herself as a blissful smile spread on her face. Slowly Jess turned over and snuggled into the warmth coming from the other side of the bed. It was then that she finally opened her eyes only to find two deep brown eyes gazing back at her.

NOT A DREAM! Her brain screamed at her as actual memories of last night's happenings came crashing down into her consciousness. Her heart swelled with happiness and she suddenly felt extremely lightheaded as HE...NICK MILLER…smiled at her in the soft light coming through the window. His hand came up to her arm and stroked it gently as he whispered softly…

"Good morning ,Day."

"Good morning, Miller."

And just like that, she knew for certain he was the one.
