" Oi wench, why do you have flowers in your mouth?" Inuyasha asked bewilderedly when he saw Kagome climb out of the well.
"Mmflenunfle"
Kagome removed the daffodils from between her teeth and laid them beside her. Grimacing at the bitter taste of the stems, she tried again:
"Hojo gave them to me just as I was entering the well house. I got here and realized I needed both hands to climb .. .…."
She was interrupted by an irate hanyou landing forcefully beside her. On top of the daffodils.
"Is that why you are late?" Inuyasha growled.
Instead of answering, Kagome tugged at the stems forlornly sticking out from under Inuyasha's feet. Only then did he seem to realize what he was standing on and he quickly jumped back. His ears twitched warily as he waited for the dreaded 'sit.'
Kagome didn't say it though, just looked sadly at the thoroughly squashed daffodils before resignedly dropping them on the ground.
"Why are you dawdling wench? Let's go look for the shards already" the words were accompanied by a gentle prod from a claw tipped hand. She rose with a sigh and started walking towards the village attended by mutterings about stupid flowers from stupider boys.
Later that day as the group was taking a break, Inuyasha came up to Kagome and awkwardly held out some dandelions.
"For you," he said without eye contact.
Noticing this from the safety of Sango's shoulder, Shippou gleefully commented:
" You baka these weeds are as useless as you, no one likes weeds."
"Keh! They are both yellow."
The hanyou growled sulkily before tossing the flowers over his shoulder and stalking off. Kagome tenderly picked up the mangled bouquet and with a soft smile to his retreating back said, " Inuyasha, I love dandelions."

A/N : This was my first attempt at writing fanfiction. Hopefully I will improve and to that end constructive criticism is very much appreciated. :)
The flower symbolism associated with the daffodil is: regard, unrequited love, chivalry, sunshine, and respect
The flower symbolism associated with the dandelion is: love me, affection returned, desire, sympathy, faithfulness, happiness and wishes come true.
