A small idea popped into my mind.. Is an Au. Based on Snow white a tale of terror: I don't own anything? Mai point of view and Naru's
Nothing to do with Ghost hunt, but thought it was a nice story: will have Ghost: A short story..
Mai is yours truly Snow White (Well, not exactly) She runs away from her evil stepmother after the huntsman tried to kill her. Same old story but when she finds a small cottage, she won't meet the seven dwarfs, but a rude, cold hearted man that has more to offer that she could imagine. Escaping the twist and turns of the worst evil stepmother, Mai has more on her plate that she has ever thought to include a deep true love that has her shaken her to the core, and it's not prince charming… I can guarantee you that.. :) All she knew, that this man was more dangerous and poisonous than any red apple..
Rated T for now.. I think.
Regular Pairing: Naru and Mai
Welcome to Poisonous
Chapter One: Evil Step Mother
"Once upon a time, a young king and his wife couldn't have any children at all. So his wife would wish every night. 'I want is a daughter, with the purest white skin and the reddest lips as pure as blood, and the brownest chocolate hair as it earth itself.' Years pass and they receive nothing, until one night, her wish came true. After the nine months, a terrible accident came to pass. " Nana paused, looking irritated.
"Come on Nana, what happens next?"
"Mai, you heard this story so many times, why do you want to repeat it?" My nana complains, crossing her chubby arms. I pouted, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Cause is the closest thing I have from my mother, besides this beautiful yard, that she planted, please," I begged my nana tugging her long white dress, that puff out in the bottom. Her chubby cheeks flares and sighs.
"Ok, so after this terrible accident, in her last breath, she gave birth to the most beautiful baby in this world. She had the pure white skin, and blood stains lips, that anyone has ever laid eyes upon. After the queen died, the king took in the baby in his open arms and loved her to no end." Nana bends down to my level and pinches my cheeks playfully, causing me to giggle.
"Nana, stop that it tickles. I wish I could have met my mom." Now feeling sad, Nana huffs out and glances at the autumn trees, watching the color leaves fall into the pile of leaves. I felt my heart heavy.
"Oh, I wish as well, she was so bright and so beautiful, and so kind. Be brave my child, cause you are becoming the image of her, remember to always keep your heart kind." Nana places her finger on my chest where my heart lies and gave me a soft smile. I nodded, moving forward and wrap my arms around her.
"Nana, I love you." I cried as she held me tighter.
"I love you to Mai, my beautiful girl. I wish you the greatest happiness in this world, and I wish you will meet a good man in the future that will love you for you." I shook my head and took out my tongue. "No, I want to live with my father for the rest of my life, it will always be him and I," I told her. Nana giggles, smoothing my hair. .
"You're too young to understand, and remember." She takes a hold of my chin as a glint pass her dark eyes.
"Nuh, I'm ten, and I'm old enough." Nana giggles, but then goes back to her serious face.
"What?"
"A true love kiss can only touch your lips, no one else, he must as pure as you, I'm sorry Mai."
..
I rushed my steps, hearing great news about my father's arrival.
"Father!" I cheered, picking up the most hated dresses, and rushed down the long, brown, gloomy hallway, that I have been raised in.
"Father, papa!" I yelled with pure joy, to finally see my own father, that left the kingdom for six months long. Six long months without his soft brown eyes, and chuckle. His big warm hands that held mine. I miss everything about my father.
Rushing down the long stairways, that leads towards the front of the castle, my heart raced with excitement. Until I reach the bottom of the stairs, I stop my steps.
"I see, I can have this rearrange." I heard behind the doors, sounded a woman's voice if I'm not mistaken.
"Papa!" I yelled, moving my feet, I rushed towards the large brown doors and the two guardsmen opens it for me. My eyes widen in excitement, only to be replaced by pure shock. A woman stood in the entrance. A woman with a long dark dress, a top hat, and wavy long black hair. Her eyes are narrow, and a chocolate color.
"This as well must go and.." I move closer and cleared my throat.
"Excuse me, who are you?" I asked the woman. The woman stops in her tracks and arched a brow at the first sight of me.
"Oh? Oh, you must be Mai, hello there, I'm.." but my father's voice broke her presentation.
"Hello there, miss me?" My father came right next to the strange woman, and bend his knees. My eyes widen and I ran towards his open arms.
"Papa!" I yelled with delight wrapping my small arms around him. My father chuckled, wrapping his big arms around me and held me tight.
"My sweet girl, I miss you terrible." He tells me. I move to stare at him.
"You won't leave anymore, right?" I asked with hope. He shakes his head and glance at the woman.
"No, I won't, I'll stay here for now on and I want to introduce you to someone very important to me," he stood up and went up to the woman. I glance up, feeling weird about this.
"Yes, papa?" My father smiles, placing his arm around the woman shoulder.
"Mai, this is Emilia, I'm going to marry her in three week worth." He explains. I stare at my father, trying to comprehend what he just told me. Then as though a bucket of cold water poured over me, my heart jumps rapidly.
"She's going to be my new mama?" I asked confused by this. My father nods and gave Emilia a soft smile.
"She is, please be good to her, and I know she'll be good to you. " I didn't know what to say to him. Emilia bends on her knees and smiles at me, but for a reason, I felt sudden chills rush down my spine.
"Nice to meet you, I will see you as my own daughter." She smiles at me but something in her smile, made my skin crawl. I laugh nervously.
"Yes, I would like that," I whispered not liking this..
…
"How could he Nana? It was us two, did he forget all about mama?" I cried hard, as Nana has her arm around me trying to soothe me. We sat in the yard bench, next to my mother fountain that she loved dearly.
"Of course not, he still loves your mother dearly, but he became lonely, and he's getting older."
"But he has me, I told him before, I won't leave his side," I told her with hiccups. Nana frowns shaking her head.
"Is something you'll learn later on in life, just be a good girl and be on your dad's side. He is very happy about this. Please don't do anything to make him unhappy he's been sad for a long time." She tries to convince me. I wipe my eyes and nodded at Nana.
"What about me? I didn't ask for another mother. I don't like her, she gives me a strange feeling. I don't like it." I told her. Nana frowns, looking down at her chubby hands.
"Be a good girl, and grow up into a beautiful princess.. That's all you need to do for now, a difficult task will be ahead of you. Remember something Mai." She turns to face the fountain, as her eyes sparkle once again.
"True love sometimes hides things that will be useful in the future." She points at the fountain. I frowned, not understanding that, but she laughs.
"Never mind this old woman, now, I'll make your favorite pie." She tries to cheer me standing up from the bench. I nodded, but I still feel unhappy.
"I don't like it still," I told her. Nana smiles at me kindly and pats my head.
"I know my child. It's never easy to replace a mother."
…
It's been two weeks since my father came back from the other kingdom, and this woman has been rearranging the things my mother has placed many years ago.
"Mai, please stop running like a wild animal." I heard her voice behind me. I stop my spinning and turned to face her. Her chocolate eyes seem to be mad, as I took notice a man standing next to her.
"Sorry Madam," I bowed, as she waves her hand.
"Children have no manners, you must teach them yourself, that soft-hearted man of your father has let this one run wild. I need to teach you some manners myself. Never let a man do a woman's job." She hissed, turning to face the man. He was a tall, thin man with dark brown beard, black eyes, and narrow nose. I can see dirt in his cheeks.
"Eliot, go and chop that tree in the yard," My eyes widen at her new words.
"No, that's a mama's yard, you can touch anything in here, but mama's yard." I felt anger boil in my blood, but she utterly ignores me, and waves her hand. Eliot nods, making his dark curls bounce. He moves his hand, noticing an ax in hand, and swing it towards his back.
"As you wish, Madam," he said in a deep Irish accent, he turns, heading for the stairs. Panic rose, so I ran up to Emilia.
"Please do anything but my mother's yard. Is the only place I feel connected to her." I begged, getting on my knees, crying hard. Emilia gets on her knees, and forcefully takes a hold of my chin, making me look straight at her eyes.
"I don't take orders from a child. I'm the new queen of the castle, and my word is the law in here. Did you get that? I make sure you learn that, after I marry your father, I will take care of you personally and.. And you will be loved greatly." She cups my cheeks after she lets go of my chin. She laughs, as she helps me stand. I turned to see Father smiling at us.
"Well, this is what I wanted to see, the two of you are happily enjoying each other company." Emilia slightly nods going up to him and wrap her arm around his.
"Yes, dear, is like I can almost see her as my own." She gives me a fake smile. I frowned, looking up at my father. He looks so happy and content. So I lied, cause I couldn't. I couldn't take that happiness from him. After all, he has done for me.
"yes, father."
"Good, then come we have a few things to discuss before the wedding." My father turns heading down the hallway leaving me alone with the woman.
"Good girl as a gift." She comes closer.
"I have a gift in my room, if you want to go ahead and look at it, I'll tell your father that you went to do something else." I stare at her watching goo down the hallway. I turned around and rushed to go to my mother's yard. About a few minutes later, huffing out I lay my hands on my knees and stare in horror as Eliot chops one of my mother tree's. I felt my tears roll down my cheeks, and I fist my hands.
"Mama, I'm sorry. I couldn't do anything." I gasp out, turning around, heading for my room, cause honestly, I couldn't watch any more..
…
I felt so sad and heartbroken, it's been a day already, and most of my mother tree's has been chop. I told my father, but he said that Emilia knows what she's doing, and it's good to change the scenery. I argued with him, about how he didn't care about Mother and he told me that he does but in his memories. I cried myself to sleep last night. Nana was too busy to come to my side, causing me to feel more lonely than ever. I lay on my bed not blinking at all. I heard a soft knock on my door.
"Go away." I groaned wiping my cheeks.
"Is that a way to speak to your new mother?" I heard a cold voice. I bolted up from my bed.
"You're not my mother," I yelled as I lifted my legs up, wrapping my arms around. Emilia walks in my room, (My room is large, with one bed and a fireplace to the right from it.) but her hands are behind her back.
"Good, and never think that." She bitterly spat as she moves her arms, and throws something on the bed. I lifted my gaze with wide eyes.
"Why did you give me this?"
"Don't get me wrong, dear, your father asks me to buy it for you. His gift; not mine. I did tell you to go to my room." And with that she turns around and heads out. I moved closer to my present, and the eyes landed on me.
"I never had a puppy before," I whispered, grasping the white fur. The puppy barks waving his tail.
"Hello there, my name is Mai," I told him, or her. I wasn't sure about the gender. The puppy runs up to my lap and lays his small body on my lap. I giggled, brushing the puppy head.
"Aren't you cheerful. I'll name you Snow since your fur is as pure as snow." I giggled, pressing my head on its head. The puppy barks, as in agreement wagging the tail.
"I have to talk Nana about you. Thank you, papa, for giving me a friend."
…
Another week has passed since my stepmother has given me Snow. She officially became my father's wife and all I did is watch and cried. I had no say on this and since papa has come back, he hasn't spent one minute with me, only with her or his work.
I stood in the kitchen, a large place with a charcoal oven and all delouse types of baked food filled the room. Nana dusted her hands after she gave a plate of bread to one of the servants of the castles to hand over to the guests in the wedding ceremony ball. She takes notice of me,
"What's wrong, dear?" Nana asks, moving to my side. I sigh, shaking my head.
"Nothing Nana, have you seen Snow?" I asked her. Nana frowns, taking my hand.
(She told me, that I have chosen the right name for my puppy, since it was a girl, last week, I felt proud about that, and told my father about it. .He was thrilled about it as well.)
"No, but we can look for her if you want." I nodded at her, turning around to head for the south side of the castle. We started to call her, but no respond.
"Snow!" I yelled, looking around the hallway, but no answer. Frowning at this, Nana stops in her tracks and turns her gaze towards Emilia white bedroom door, that isn't far from my own room. I glance at the large window, that shows the beautiful yellow moon that I wish upon every night.
'I wish I can meet a friend and that friend can help me. I wish that papa will see Emilia's true colors.'
"Here, I hear the dog in here." Nana snaps me out of my thoughts. I glance up at her and nodded. Now moving swiftly, we stood in front of Emilia door.
"Is this a good idea, she did forbid us to walk in there," I told her an uncertain feeling pass my spine. Nana shrugs.
"I have been here plenty of times nothing scary, let's get that blasted dog and go, she will never know." She tells me. I bit my bottom lip but nodded.
"Okay," I whispered, as she reach for the doorknob and opens the door. The eerie feeling filled me once again: I shook it off and we step in. The room is huge, with one bed on the right side near the window. One large strange drawer on the left side, with two old strange doors, and the walls are a color of blood red. I shivered hearing Snow bark under the bed.
"Oh, she's under the bed," I told Nana. Nana shivers, and turns to face me.
"Hurry on, child, I'm getting the creeps." (Since Emilia room is sending the 'Get out of here,' vibe) She moves a little. I nodded at her, and bend on my knees and lifted the quilt up. I glance to see Snow under the bed.
"There you are the silly puppy, come out, I want to play with you," I told her, but she wouldn't move at all. Then I heard Nana take an intake.
"Hurry child, hide under the bed, I hear someone coming." She warns. I panic, feeling my body stiff, but I have no idea how, I manage to move, but I hid under the bed next to Snow. Snow stood next to me, but I took notice of how she was shivering. I frowned, lifting the quilt up, to take a peek.
"My queen?" Nana sounded nervous. I see a white dress appear.
"What are you doing in my room?" Emilia asks in a silky voice, I can imagine her giving Nana a stern look. Nana smoothly said.
"I forgot to wash some sheets, I'll be out of your hair in just a minute." She told her, without sounding nervous.
"Is that so then please proceed, and one thing.. Please don't open my drawer." Emilia giggles, as she leaves the room. I breathed out in relief, I was about to move, but a sudden small squeak echoed the room, causing me to freeze in place. I watch Nana walk up towards the drawer and from what I can imagine, I can imagine her opening the small doors.
"Nana?" I whispered, now feeling very scared about this, my heart pulsed under me as Snow moves closer to me, whimpering. I lifted my gaze and the next thing I hear is a terrifying scream, that shook me to the core.
I move swiftly, but it was too late, Nana drops to the floor with the most horrified look in her eyes. Her final breath, she shook her head, as to say 'Don't move' and her eyes widen, as the life seem to be sucked out of her, now laying there terrified, my body wouldn't move.
"Nana?" I move my small hand to tuck her stiff shoulder, but no answer.
"Nana wake up?" I whispered once again, but in doing so, she suddenly opens her eyes, showing me two blank eyes, with no color, scaring me to no end, I muffle a scream, because I heard someone steps, and before I knew it, someone rushed into the room. I cover my mouth with tears rolling down my cheeks, watching one of the servants bend down (Since they wore brown dresses) and touch Nana's neck.
"Nana, she's dead.."
Let me know if you want me to continue.. Wanted to do a fairy tale like the story, snow white, but different, similar to the old movie (If you haven't watched it, well then this is new for you, lol.) Snow white a tale of terror but my own version. : ) I hope you enjoy…. It won't as Snow white per say.a
