AN: Here you go! A Draco/Luna story with a bit of Lovegood and Sprout mixed in.

Unpredictable

You had never expected to handle a meeting between a Malfoy and a Lovegood. Neither had you imagined that this task would be given by Minerva. With Dumbledore, you had learned to go with the flow, yet it seemed Minerva had also become slightly insane and unpredictable.

Thus, you found yourself accompanying Draco Malfoy to Xenophilius Lovegood's house for dinner, acting as a mediator between the two parties.

"Professor Sprout, what if he refuses? I have only been dating Luna for a few months." The blond asked you nervously. Personally, you were glad he had dropped the arrogant facade after the war, it had been extremely irritating to put up with during his early years.

"Mr. Malfoy, I am no expert on such things, but the best you can do is be patient and wait to prove yourself to him. After all, he means a lot to Miss Lovegood, and going against him is not a good idea." You gave him the unnecessary advice, for surely, if Luna was besotted with him Xenophilius would not deny Draco. Probably. He was quite unpredictable himself.

You sighed. This was not going well.

When Xenophilius had offered both of you Gurdyroot infused tea, Draco had uneasily accepted along with you. The Malfoy head had immediately made a face on drinking the infusion, which had not helped matters with Lovegood. You were not too pleased yourself.

Making small talk was uncomfortable at best. The long pauses were hastily filled in by you, but with Draco and Xenophilius sizing each other up as a lunatic and fool respectively, definitely did not help.

Draco didn't know anything about the Quibbler except for the crossword section and Xenophilius had nothing to contribute on the national affairs except for contrived theories which Draco (and you) did not enjoy. You were tempted to laugh at various points in the conversation but it would have been extremely rude.

Finally, they both found a topic they both were enthusiastic about. Obviously, Luna. You thanked the deities above for this. Hope may not be lost yet for Draco.

You could see the old man finally reaching a decision about Draco. Thankfully, it seemed to be a positive one.

Draco ultimately asked the million galleon question, "Sir, I wish to ask your daughter to marry me, may I?" Crude, but then, nothing about this meeting had been smooth.

"Mr. Malfoy, that's something I don't have control over. If my Luna wants to marry you, then she will. But yes, I'm not as opposed to it as I thought I might be. Tell Luna that."

At Hogwarts, Draco said, "Thanks a lot, Professor. He might not have been so agreeable to the idea if you weren't there. "

"I didn't do anything. It was all you. You showed him you cared deeply for Luna and that was enough for him." You smiled, "How are you going to propose to her?"

He paused.

"I don't know. I'll speak to my mother. She'll know what to do."
