When I wasn't at the water's edge, I could be found in my room, buds in my ears, music blaring. Call me crazy, but it was easier to think this way. All other distractions were drowned out. My foot tapped the kick pedal to my bass drum. Grabbing my drumstricks, I added a drum line to the techno song I was listening to. Music was a way for me to mute out the world for a while. I was around it so much that I've managed to work my spirit energy into it. Most of the time when I wasn't paying attention, my drumsticks would infuse with energy and tangible music notes would fly from the tips. I found out the hard way, however, when I was angry, my music notes would crackle with energy and send sparks flying. I kept that to myself so the next time Yusuke pissed me off I could send one straight into his ass. Actually, come to think of it, none of them knew of the abilities I'd developed. It's not that I didn't like them. It's just that I liked the element of surprise if shit were to go down. As far as they knew, I was a normal human being with no abilities. On top of this, something new had started happening lately that was cool and bizarre at the same time. When I began to play, instead of the music notes appearing out of my drumsticks, they would appear on my skin. Both arms would be covered with music notes, treble clefs lining my fingers. Over the last few days when they'd appeared, I'd discovered that I could pick them up off of my skin and manifest them into physical representations of themselves.

This is also the reason I played my drums when everyone was gone because Kurama and Hiei would pick it up immediately. And also…drums are loud. I waited until I had the house to myself which wasn't often. I had a barn out back that I converted to a studio but I liked the acoustics of my room. I directed Spotify to my Disturbed channel, selecting Indestructible. I readied my drum sticks through the intro, counting down to come in on time. This song had taken me a while to perfect, but now I had it down pat.
