"Daddy! Want Snuffles!" cried Harry. James sighed. "Hold on!"
He started to make his way to the shelf where Harry kept all his toys.
"James! I need help with dinner." came Lily's voice from the kitchen. "Okay, Lils! Be right there!" called James.
He strode over to Harry's crib and picked him up. "Sorry, Harry, but mummy needs help with dinner. I'll get Snuffles after we help mummy, okay?"
Harry just gurgled up at James and reached for his face. James chuckled. "I'll take that as a yes."
He carried Harry over to the kitchen and sat him down at the table, where he started giggling as he pounded his tiny fists on the table.
"Okay, Lils," said James. He turned around to see Lily, who had her back to him and was bending over a cookbook. "How can I help?"
"Well, I don't really understand this part. It says to-"
Suddenly, she went quiet and spun around. There was Harry, but he was no longer giggling. In fact, he was crying.
"James!" Shouted Lily over Harry's continuous wails. "You didn't tell me you brought Harry!"
"Well, one, what was I supposed to do? Leave a one-year old baby in a room all by himself? And, two, how did you not notice him? He was right there, for Merlin's sake!"
"Oh, well, I don't know, maybe you didn't notice that I was trying to make dinner for all of us-"
"Exactly. You were trying to make dinner, but that didn't work, did it, I had to come to help you-"
"You never got around to helping me much, though, did you-"
But she was interrupted by Harry's cry of, "Snuffles! I want Snuffles!"
However, this only provoked more arguments.
"Why didn't you get him the stupid toy while you were in the room with him? You know he can't live without it-"
"I was getting it for him until someone called me to help with dinner-"
"Well, you should have gotten it for him before you went to help me, you prat, Harry always comes first-"
But, once again, she was interrupted by Harry. "Snuffles! I want SNUFFLES!"
Suddenly, something came whizzing into the room in a blur of black, heading towards Harry.
James and Lily stopped arguing to stare as Harry caught the black dog in his hands.
"Yay!" he gurgled. "Snuffles!"
Both James and Lily smiled and looked fondly at their son.
"He's going to be a great wizard when he grows up," murmured James as they watched Harry play with the stuffed animal.
"Yeah," said Lily softly. "I mean, look at him, doing the Accio charm at the age of one!"
