Tranquility

Alpenglow bathes the mountains as a herald for dawn, a spotlight for the choir announcing a crisp new day. Trees creak to join the cacophony of birds, dancing their slender bows to scrape a rough, wooden tune in the wind. Spring has arrived, every glistening dew drop sparkling under the fresh morning sun a beautiful reminder of fresh beginnings- a quick rinse for the fresh deciduous coats each tree bears before the elder sighs of the pines.

And here I am, lucky enough to listen to the whispers of turning seasons among emerald backdrops and opened vibrance of perfume sending tingles down my every limb. And for the first time in Arceus knows how long, the bubbling fount of joy sending tears to my eyes is overshadowed by naught but peace- standing guard amidst the verdant scene of battles past. And why shouldn't I be happy? At least today, things are good.

Breezes twirl through my campsite, embracing me in a cooler reminder that winter has not beaten a full retreat and I do have to dress warmly on occasion. But that, I can deal with, along with my full set of cheery, cherry spheres at my waist. Not a single loss, not in a while. And while we don't always win our battles, all of them join me at the end of the day for another meal. Even though I spent so long without them, I can't imagine a life without my companions now- faithful friends who do whatever they can when I need. But as the world continues to grow more complex, I know I can always return to the peace they help provide just by being out and about with me; walking both in the flowers and slipping on ice, I feel at home with them no matter our location.

Wisps of mountain mist caress my face as I pack in silence, letting my friends continue their rest. Quiet moments, reminiscing next to a glowing campfire, stolen minutes lost playing under the trees like a little kid again, even simply greeting my pillow with a hug at the end of a long day's travel. Everything is shared, even when they aren't actively around to join me. My Pokemon, my team- my family. Simply saying their names to myself brings a smile tugging across my face as I finish up packing and stare out into the winding maze of earthen hues. What started out as nothing more than a casual acquaintanceship between comrades has grown into a love as dear as any blood relation- trial by crucible and celebration it's all been there. While the road deeper into the forest may get me lost along the way at times, I know that I'll make it out eventually to fight more battles, and win more victories, with those I love most beside me all the way.
