Just like my poor excuse for a summary says, this is just a remake of sorts only from Four's perspective. I've taken some quotes from the book and some scenes will be the same so as to recreate it only (as I said) through Four's eyes. I know Veronica Roth made the short stories of some scenes from Four's eyes but I'm aiming to do the whole book. I may even add, remove or change some scenes. I guess I'll just be going with the flow, sorry for the rambling just want you to understand before you read so you know what to expect. :)
My brain ran through the schedule for the week as I waited by the net. Dauntless initiation could get quite boring when you're an instructor. It's a whole different story when you are the initiate like I was two years ago. Though with this years initiation being my first as an instructor I was intrigued to see who was to be first to jump. Eric was probably up there taunting someone until they'd finally step forward.
A rush of wind, displaced air and not even a scream, alerted me of an initiate finishing one of their many challenges. I expected to see the black and red attire of a Dauntless-born initiate so I certainly wasn't ready to see grey. It's very rare to see an Abnegation transfer to Dauntless let alone be the first to do any initiate challenge.
The girl in grey laid in the net and took a breath. I yanked on the edge of the thick rope to roll her off and it wasn't until she was closer to the edge that I realised just how small she was. I grabbed her under the arms and lifted her off, letting go immediately when her feet touched the floor.
"Can't believe it," says Lauren from behind me as she stares at the initiate before me. I can't believe it either. "A stiff, the first to jump? Unheard of."
I roll my eyes. "There's a reason why she left them, Lauren," I say. "What's your name?" I ask the girl.
She looks to the wall beside me and hesitates. "Um..."
For some reason I'm brought back to two years when I was an initiate not wanting people to know my name. Hating my name and the instant reputation in brought in its wake. "Think about it," I say. "You don't get to pick again."
"Tris," she says so surely I didn't question her decision.
"First jumper - Tris!" I yell for it to be recorded for the standings.
Soon after the announcement I hear a scream as another initiate descended from the sky. The screamer was clad in black and red, a Dauntless-born. I glanced at Tris. She didn't look smug, instead she was clapping her hands and cheering on the other initiates as each one screamed their way down.
I look at her and see a small girl with a brave heart, how did she survive Abnegation? I wasn't quite sure but with her size I wasn't sure how she was going to survive Dauntless either.
