Noooo........ Jack tapped his pencil against the hard table top.
What could it be?
Evil?
Don't think about it! Jack scolded himself. His mind had filled with images of their last mission, Jack had almost died, Carter had been kidnapped, and Jack had almost lost her.
Sam.
Nope, not four letters.
Damn.
Suddenly it clicked.
Love.
Jack was in love. Jack was in love with his 2IC, Major Samantha Carter. Jack couldn't live without her. And Jack had just found the four letter word. Love.
"Ha!" Jack cried, jotting it down and grabbing his coat. Carter had thought he couldn't finish the stupid crossword, but here he was, every space filled out.
Driving through the checkpoints at the SGC, Jack pulled his truck in his usual spot. Climbing into the elevator, Jack hummed slightly as the car came to a sudden stop and the doors slid open.
"Colonel O'Neill." Came Sam's usual greeting. "O'Neill." There was Teal'c. "Hey Jack." And Daniel. His team.
"What's up guys?" He asked, walking up to them. Sam raised her eyebrow.
Joyfully, Jack handed her the crossword. "I think you owe me ten bucks Carter."
There was a gasp.
Jack raised his eyes and noted Carter's cheeks suddenly go very red. Not a good sign.
"What?" He asked, as Daniel and Teal'c watched on.
Then he saw it.
Damn.
On the back on the crossword, sometime during the morning, Jack had scribbled. SCRIBBLED. Damn. 'I love Sam.'
What a thing to scribble.
Jack kicked himself as Daniel and Teal'c read the message.
