The Brave Girls of Barton
By: Tjix
It was the 2007 End-of-Summer Festival.
Trixianna laughed as she lobbed a water balloon at a Gambinon who had strayed into Barton. "Gotcha!" she shouted. "You picked the wrong side, Ebonhero!"
The Gambinon laughed and threw his own balloon at her. "Wanna bet? Isle de Gambino is gonna kick Barton's butt!!! You were the one who picked the wrong side, Trixi!"
"Not if I can help it!" Trixi began a volley of water balloons. Then, she suddenly turned around and ran the opposite way.
"Hey, get back here!" Ebonhero shouted with good-natured ferocity. He dove after her.
Trixi disappeared between two buildings. Ebonhero quickly followed—and found himself suddenly sodden by a rain of swollen water balloons!
"AMBUSH!!!" he yelled in alarm. He turned and ran back toward his own team's outpost. He was soon outside Barton's limits.
"This is fun," giggled Shailana, tossing a small round water balloon into the air and catching it.
"Yup!" Raiu smirked, powering up her water gun.
Trixi checked her watch. "It's been three minutes. Come on! Pump fest!" She turned and ran to HQ, where Barton's giant Water Squirt Gun was housed. The three girls quickly scooped up buckets of water and dumped them into the Gun's loading casket.
"Okay, now we gotta wait another three minutes!" Trixi said. "Let's go soak some Duremites!"
"But only the ones who are flaming," Shailana warned, using a word that meant insulting and being cruel to others, rather than on fire.
"Agreed," Raiu said. She made a serious face. "And look out for those pesky squirrels."
Trixi giggled. "Don't worry, Raiu-chan, we'll be careful. Get your balloons!"
The girls hurtled into the town and attacked invading Duremites who were insulting their teammates.
"BARTON BALLOON BARRAGE!!!" Trixi shouted.
They bore down on the Duremites. A miniature water war began, with other Bartonians running for their balloons and the Duremites calling in backup.
Trixi laughed as water drenched her. Her bathing suit was stuck to her skin and her hair was weighted down with moisture. Her friends were around her and they were having fun.
Life was good.
