Matt-kun
Mello stood on the roof of the tallest building in Japan. It was some ungodly hour. Probably sometime in the morning; but he didn't care. Why should he care? He had just experienced the most catastrophic event in his whole life, even more so then L's death. His teammate, no, best friend, no, brother, no, his world. Yes, his whole world had come crashing down on him when Matt had died.
Mello had his head hung and his eyes closed. Then…
"The stars will cry the blackest tears tonight…"
He snapped his head up and his eyes open.
"And this is the moment that I live for; I can smell the ocean air…"
He said it with an almost disgusted look on his face.
He then threw his hands in the air like he was surrendering, but slowly brought his hands down and closed his open palms as he said
"And here I am pouring my heart onto these rooftops…"
He cut the air horizontally as he said
"Just a ghost to the world…"
As he said this next thing, he pounded the roof ledge with an open palm.
"That's exactly, exactly what I need."
He then motioned to the city below.
"From up here the city lights burn like a thousand miles of fire…"
He looked to the sky talking to someone that clearly wasn't there
"And I'm here to sing this anthem of our dying day!"
He looked back to the city and almost smiled when he said
"For a second I wish the tide, would swallow every inch of this city as you gasp for air tonight."
However, it disappeared when he screamed to the heavens again.
"I'd scream this song right in your face if you were here. I swear I won't miss a beat 'cause I never, never have before!"
Then to the city

The cool breeze calmed him down and he closed his eyes as it brushed by.
"For a second I wish the tide would swallow every inch of this city as you gasp for air tonight!"

He hadn't bothered to wipe the single tear that had fallen on his cheek. It itched a little but he fought off the urge to itch it. After all the wind would dry it soon enough.
Anyway, and he sighed, he had unfinished business to attend to. He would NOT let Matt die in vain.
