He had always known that by allowing the Dark Genie to be created he had unleashed a great darkness into the world, one that he would perhaps never be able to escape. But he had never known about the light that had been born from his actions, what his one mistake that had damned the world, had created to save it.

He hadn't known, hadn't seen, had simply passed the boy's skill off as an aspect of the stone on his left hand, not his honest abilities. He hadn't wanted to see, blindly believing that since he was the one whose mistake had created the dreaded beast, it would be his hand that would slay it.

The atla was key to everything, to the world's salvation, he needed it's power and while he would've done anything to obtain it, killing the boy, for there was no other way to separate the atlamilla and it's host, was a step too close to the edge, a step he wasn't willing to take. So he had enticed the boy with treasure, using the greed inherent in every man to lead him closer to where it all began, leading him towards where it would all end.

He would never know that it wasn't greed that had driven the boy forward, but simply the desire to do good, to set things right. In his blind desire to erase his mistake, he had forgotten about all the lives sacrificed to the beast, forgotten about everything that had been destroyed because of it, had forgotten about the self sacrificing drive that all heroes possessed.

He would never know, because none of this had ever happened, because that same boy, whose brightness was powerful enough to defeat the demon, had sacrificed himself to change the world, knowing fully that if the genie didn't exist, neither would he.

He, and the world, would never get the chance to know that brave boy, who had sacrificed everything so that they would be able to live, love and die in peace. His story would never be spoken aloud, never be written down, never be remembered, but the altamilla would remember, and so would he.
