Yeah, this is just a short fanfiction I came up with when I was feeling depressed. Yes, I know, it's really short. I was thinking about Mai and how she would react when she would read Zuko's letter to her. I don't know if she would act totally like this, but maybe to some extent. No, plot. is not editing the end of this. I'll make this a suprise. So anyways, Mai gets to do the disclaimer!
Mai: Serodezha does not own Avatar.
The room was dark. Mai frowned. Why was is so quiet?
"Zuko?" she called, "Are you there?"
She peered into the darkness. Nothing.
"Zuko, come on. We're going back to the palace now." She walked up to Zuko's bed and her frown deepened.. On there was a scroll yet there was no Zuko. Mai picked up the scroll and realized it was addressed to her. She slowly started to open the message and began to read.
My dear Mai,
By the time you'll get this, I will be far away.
I have enjoyed being with you and will miss you very much but I must do this. Remember when I told you I wasn't me? Well, I realized that if I wanted to be myself, I couldn't be around my father. My father... I see everything clearly now. For the longest time, I thought I wanted my father's love; his honor. I thought it was my destiny. But now, I realized what my real destiny is. I will free my uncle and beg for forgiveness. Forgiveness that I know I don't deserve. But I am also going to do something bigger than that, I am going to join the Avatar. I've been thinking about this for a long time and though it seems surprising, I believe that joining the Avatar is my best choice. I'm going now to confront my father, Ozai. I hope to see you soon.
Zuko
After she finished reading it, she just stared at it for a while. A single tear fell down her face as she put the message down. All of a sudden, she was filled with rage. How dare he do this to her. Mai pulled out one of her knives and started slashing at anything that was in front of her. She slashed the bed curtains and the scroll. The desk got scratched and so did the chairs. Zuko's armor, which was laying on the bed, got pushed off and it clanged to the ground.
Tears ran frequently down Mai's face now, uncontrollably. Her vision so blurred, she couldn't see what she hit now. Her hand started to fly everywhere, not caring where it went.
She only stopped when she felt pain in her left arm. Mai dropped her knife and wiped her eyes with the hem of her right sleeve. With her vision back, Mai could see the destruction that she caused. Everything in view was destroyed. Nothing had been spared from her furious attacks. She looked down at her pained arm to see a deep cut. Wincing, she grabbed her knife again and cut a piece of the blankets on Zuko's bed. She then wrapped it tightly around the wound and sighed.
There was nothing she could do now. It was time to leave. As Mai left the room she took one glimpse back. "Oh, Zuko. Why didn't you take me with you?" And with that, she solemnly left.
