TWILIGHT AND SHADOW
I saw a star rise high in the evening sky,
far above the dark ground.
It shone, alone, in a veil of darkness,
the jewel of the night,
a beacon of hope, of majesty
of an immortal soul in solitude
I saw a star fade in the morning sky,
In the dawn light, it died.
The jewel was shattered,
the bonds cut, the spirit rent
The flame of nature has left this world
A great light, blown out
A shadow falls in the twilight
As the last great star dims
What has endured for so long
Has now fallen
