Scar gasped for breath as another Hyena tackled him violently to his side. Countless numbers of Hyenas were on top of him ripping him on all sides, and he found no way to fight, or even escape. He saw flashes of black and rigid fire in his blurred vision.
He no longer felt pain, it had faded away along with the years of his carefully schemed plan which was now crushed into pieces. The thrashing had stopped eventually, the Hyenas deciding it better to leave him in a slow death, than to end it quick. Scar lay there slightly shaking, breathing in and out too slowly. The surroundings where he lay was not visible to him, as a dark blur was replaced around him instead.
A sudden small, barely noticeable smirk appeared on his lips.
'What a pity it is, for it to all end like this..' He thought to himself.
Scar was never fortunate in the past. He was always the one to blame in the lion pride. He held the scar that mocked the day he was denied king, giving the power to Mufasa, and therefore nicknaming him "Scar" in disgrace. The experience left him leaving Pride Rock, feeling full of bursting hatred, and loneliness. He locked the Hatred deep in his heart, and did not allow it to come to the surface. That hatred he kept inside him all this time made him scheme Mufasa's death without even him realizing it. Now that he came very near to his death, he was introduced with this sudden realization, that all he did was for this. For it to all end. He knew deep inside, that it would eventually come to this.
Scar felt a drop of rain fall on to his face. It was quickly followed by a rush of rain, drenching every crack and corner of the land. The fire that was roaring just a few moments ago, died down by the heavy rain.
Besides feeling cold droplets of rain on his body, Scar felt one warm drop fall onto his muzzle. He managed to open one eye, making out the object with the last remaining strength he had to find a looming shadow above him.
"...Sa-Sarabi?", he said with shock in an ill voice.
Sarabi looked at him, her eyes filled with sorrowful tears.
"Scar..", she choked at his name, and hid her face in his mane.
"I'm sorry. For everything.", she said her voice quivering, hot tears running down her soft cheeks.
Hearing no reply, she raised her head and looked into Scars eyes.
"Scar... I love you."
He lay silent.
