River's POV
Sitting in my cell reading my diary seems to be all I do these days! The Doctor hasn't come around for a few months and the last time I saw mum and dad was Christmas. I reach under my bed and take out the small wooden box that I placed there for emergencies. I open it and stare at its contents. Photos of me and my parents, the doctor with his many faces and all of us together filled the box about half way. Ready for more pictures to be taken and more memories to be made.
Right at the bottom of the box I found what I was really looking for, my vortex manipulator. I took it out, closed the box and put it back under my bed. As I was putting it on my wrist, wondering where I would appear this time, a guard spotted me and headed towards my cell.
I stood up and walked over to lean against the bars of my cage.
"Is something the matter?" I asked him as he approached the cage.
"Ma'am, I should inform you that it is forbidden for time-travelling devices of any kind to be owned by prisoners of Stormcage." He paced up and down with his chest puffed out as he said it.
"You can't have been working here for very long can you?" I flashed him a smile as I punched in the co-ordinates that may or may not take me where I want to go this time.
He stopped pacing and as I looked up I saw him grinning like a Cheshire cat.
"I have been here a week Miss Song and I have read your bio and been briefed on how to deal with prisoners who like to try and escape." I scoffed at his comment. "I happen to have passed that section of training with the top marks in my class. Must be the reason I was assigned your floor."
I laughed out loud.
"Probably, but you can't have read my bio's that carefully as you would have realised that; One, I'm married and my name is Doctor Song, and two, you would realise that the extra training you must have done to be guarding me…totally not worth it!" With that said I blew him a kiss and activated the vortex manipulator.
Well I tried to tell him!
