I of course own nadda but the plot.
They all said it was just a reaction to everything that happened. It was normal. Psychological. They even had a nice little name for it, Stockholm syndrome. A captive begins to identify with his or her captors, sympathize with them, even believe that they're really truly okay people and everything they did was justified. And plenty of case examples too, (and hers wasn't any different, right?). It couldn't be love of course.
But what if it was? she asked.
And once again it was nicely explained to her by the men and women around her, reassuring her that it would pass. It was only because she was taken away from all her familiar surroundings, and her captor was the only constant in her life, and she was forced to depend on him for everything. He had probably told her she couldn't even count on Sora anymore, right? (And she couldn't find the words to say, "No, you're wrong," and that he had been COUNTING on Sora coming to get her and all of them had told her that. Because these were experts she was talking to and what was she? Just a girl.) And these people continued their explanations (to counter any 'brainwashing' or manipulations he might have done, because why else would she still show such a deep attachment to a dead man?) that, even if he had done one helpful thing, ('sacrificed himself to help someone!' she wanted to scream) it didn't vindicate him. And she didn't say a thing (just quietly assented, because, after all, what else could she do if she wanted to get out of this place?).
And soon enough... she began to believe it herself. Forgot all the crying, all the arguments they had had, even those fleeting moments of camaraderie, forgot talking to the girl he freed and gave new hope to, enough hope to free her, a fellow prisoner, with the girl's newly acquired (and even potentially dangerous) skills.
And eventually... she forgot him. And he truly became what he always had been-- a Nobody.
