Just re-watched Aithusa for the millionth time and this popped into my head. How Merlin choses her name.
Merlin POV
I see the pale blue egg before me; I have to pick its name. How on earth am I supposed to decide? It will have to be a Dragon name but I know none. I think of Arthur and how this will affect Albion and its destiny when I hear a voice in my head.
"My name is Aithusa." The baby dragon is speaking to me from the egg obviously waiting.
"Aithusa." I say in my Dragonlord voice and then it starts cracking. I spot a little head and I can't stop myself from crying with happiness.
"A white dragon, is indeed a rare thing and fitting for in the dragon tongue you named her after the light of the sun. No dragon birth is without reason sometimes the meaning is hard to see but, this time I believe it is clear; the white dragon birth bodes well for Albion. For you and Arthur and for the land that you will build together." Kilgarrah tells me.
I tell Gaius, but wish my father were here. I gaze out onto Camelot and start wondering of what it will be like when magic is allowed.
