A/N: Hello everyone! I am back with a brand new version of 'The Life Of An Outcast.'
This user, Flawed sanity made me realise how much this story lacked quality and I really want to thank you for making me realise it. Even though your review felt like a flame more than anything else, I still tried to take it into account, but if you don't like a story, why bother reading it, wasting precious moments of your life?
Anyway, I want to thank everyone who has supported this story so far, trust me, the plot will go more smoothly and it will have a quicker pace. This is what it would have been like from chapter 20 but lets just say the things you've read so far give you a clear insight on the background information.
As for new readers, you haven't missed anything!
Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts, even though I'd love to! :)
Onto the story...enjoy!
.::Chapter One: Welcome to my life::.
I am the infamous Xion Miya Black. I was short in height, which made me very vulnerable in appearance, I had to wear glasses due to my terrible myopia and I was (still am) unable to concentrate. My hair was styled just above my chin, framing my heart-shaped face, and I had blue eyes like everyone else in my school, however, mine did not shine like everyone else's, they were dull, lifeless and they looked sleep deprived with dark shadows underneath. (Practically everyone had blue eyes). My skin was pretty pale, which therefore, made it more difficult for me to hide the scars, scars that were never given the chance to heal...
I always had excruciating pain rushing over my bruised skin. I was nothing but skin and bones and I looked so fragile that I attracted one bully after another. I barely ate and when I did, I was not allowed to finish...I looked malnourished.
In the morning when I walked through the hallways of hell-hole, (also known as school) immediately sneers and whispers would erupt from all corners. I tucked in loose strands of cropped black hair and stared at the dusty ground, begging it to swallow me as I continued to walk slowly.
I felt a hand on my boney shoulder, halting me from proceeding further.
I knew what to expect next- another round of humiliation from the 'looks can be deceiving' girl named, Naminé Angel Nakahara. She was the Greek-Goddess of my school, she was slim, tall (taller than me), her hair was a shade of pale blonde, thick, long and straight. Her eyes were crystal blue, but I can tell you this much, her angelic appearance concealed a devilish soul. It's ironic how her name is Angel...
She had the most popular guy in the school as her boyfriend, Roxas Strife. (Who I liked a lot at one point until an incident)...Let's just say Naminé had everything handed to her, along with the perfect life as a rich man's daughter.
She allowed a 'plastic smile' to curl up her lips and she turned back to her cronies, as if she was checking on them to see if they would contribute to the morning dose of humiliation.
I heard a weird laugh erupt behind Miss Perfect.
I lowered my gaze to the floor, mentally begging again for it to swallow me.
"See? She's cowering, she's like, so jealous of you! That's why she like put lasagna in your hair and she hit you with a football!" Larxene, a tall skinny girl shouted out behind Miss Popular. Her hair reminds me of antennas, seriously, the girl was a crazy psychopath.
The word, 'like' is so overused. Sometimes it's not even necessary. But telling that to Miss Antenna Head would result in nothing but insults...
I could feel the atmosphere thickening...I had that terrible feeling of knowing that everyone was glaring daggers at me. I was clumsy enough to let those lovely events occur and get shunned from school, since then I had a miserable time at school and let's not forget home either.
Naminé smiled venomously as she faced me, "You're asking to be picked on, I mean, just look at you!"
Yes, my appearance lacked attractiveness. She did not have to remind me everytime. And just to make matters worse, Roxas came from nowhere, wrapped his arms around the bit- I mean, Naminé and pulled her into a kiss. Yuck. I was practically gagging. I lowered my gaze to the floor again but when I looked for a second, Namine looked at me and just to make me feel absolutely terrible, she looked at me again while she smirked into the kiss...
I was still not over Roxas and she knew it. She knew it REALLY well. People began to snigger and before I let the tears fall and ruin my day further, I ran. What else could I do?
"Go kill yourself!" Larxene called out behind me. How come no-one hated her for it? How come no one called her heartless? Maybe because they all felt like that towards me. I was pretty sure she hated sweet little Naminé too, but she hung around her because of popularity.
Anyway...
That was a little insight of my start to the day, everyday. Also, at the age of sixteen I had become so numb about it that it did not even make me cry anymore... I just wanted to shoot everyone and be free. Well, not literally, I just wanted to be free.
...
I walked into homeroom and placed myself in the corner seat right at the back, attempting to be invisible. I stared out the window, looking at the beautiful horizon outside where the sky and sea blended to create a sapphire path.
I did not realise that Yuffie had walked in and that she was sitting quietly, next to me.
Yuffie. She's my best friend, and I love her. (Uh, no, I'm not a lesbian). She's the only friend I ever had and she had always been there for me. Back when I was an eleven year old, she was the only one who had befriended me and she has been friends with me ever since.
Luckily, we shared the same classes and we pretty much enjoyed ourselves. Despite the humiliation.
Yuffie was kind of similar to me in appearance, except she was a little taller and she had chocolate brown eyes. And she was strong, (unlike me) even though she was younger than me. At-least she had a good life where she had other friends too...However, sometimes...I felt like she pitied me. Nothing more.
What I feel honoured about is that she told me something she did not trust anyone else with.
She grinned, showing off her pearly white teeth, "Good morning sunshine! What's up?"
I smiled, not making eye contact, "The usual..."
"Stop being so mopey! They're not worth it!" she exclaimed sternly, staring at me once again.
I cracked a smile for her sake.
If only she knew how painful it was to smile.
...
Lunch that day was not very nice either, I was constantly pushed at the back of the humongous cue and by the time I managed to reach the front, they ran out of what I was able to eat; pasta. I shrugged and moved on, I assumed there would be no food for me, even if Riku tried a lot.
Riku...
He was the main part of Yuffie's secret. They were arranged to get married, which was against their will. Pretty old fashioned, don't you think? From what I assumed, it had to do with the death of Riku's father, Sephiroth.
Who's Riku?
He's my adoptive father's step-son, so he is somehow my brother. I knew him as the sick-guy who had left Destiny Islands but he suddenly reappeared and he's a year ahead of me. He's a senior while I'm a junior. My adoptive father married his mother when my adoptive mother disappeared. I have not seen her ever since...
I did not realise I was walking around aimlessly until I crashed into a tall figure. I looked up out of curiousity. Speak of the devil.
Aquamarine eyes stared into my lifeless eyes, I could not really read his facial expression to see what he was actually thinking, however, he did look a little tensed with his balled fists and stiff posture. His silver hair grazed his shoulders and he looked...calm. All of a sudden, he seemed to look more muscular than he had previously.
"Riku," I said as way of greeting him with a faint smile.
I barely smiled.
"Hey," he whispered, reaching his hand out to help me up.
I felt heat prickling my skin, how did I land on the floor? Gratefully, I took his hand and stood up, "Thank you."
He shrugged, "You're welcome, see you later."
He walked as I watched his retreating figure (not in the creepy way) and I knew very well that he tried to keep clear of me at school. I don't blame him, I mean, who in their right mind would want to hang out with a bruised outcast? Yuffie, Sora and Kairi were exceptions.
...
I waited until the last bell went, as I stepped out, the sun's rays felt really warm on my pale skin. The school grounds were nearly empty, except for one or two freshmen lurking around looking a little lost, they were so tiny!
A girl with short flaxen hair walked towards me, shyly, "Hey..."
I smiled at her, she seemed...nice. "Hello," I greeted back quietly, unsure of what to say.
"My name is Rhyme and I'm looking to find where the main office is," she twiddled with her thumbs nervously.
"Do you know where the main block is?" I asked her quietly, I do not know what happened to my voice.
She nodded.
"If you keep going straight and then turn left, the long hall way will lead you to the main office," I replied with a faint smile gracing my chapped lips.
"Thank you!" she grinned and then she paused to look at me, "What's your name?"
"Xion."
...
"You're late, Xi," Riku looked up from his phone, he did not look angry, he looked...bored and tensed.
"Sorry, I was helping out a freshman, she didn't know where to go," I responded sheepishly, however, I knew very well that being late meant...more punishment and...maybe that's why Riku looked tensed.
The walk back home was silent, not to mention, awkward. My 'brother' looked as if he was in another land, I finally mustered the courage to ask him, "What's wrong? Why do you look like you're carrying the world's weight on your shoulders?"
"Yuffie," he simply replied with a heavy sigh.
"What do you mean?" I asked again. Do you ever feel as if you're forcing a conversation when you are the only one who asks questions while the other persona hesitantly answers?
"Her parents want us to get married by the end of this year because I'll be turning eighteen. My mum agrees with them. Xion, I'm scared as hell," he was so honest, it was pretty shocking, he was always one of those fearless looking guys.
"Oh," was all I could say.
...
For once I was safe in my own house, 'dad' wasn't home, which meant that Riku would not get beaten up trying to stop him and I would not have to get beaten up trying to save him.
At least Aqua got save from the madness, but she had her own problems too.
Riku's mother, (one of the nicest women I had ever met) was in Radiant Garden due to a business trip for six months. Weird, right? And since there was no one to calm my 'father down' he targeted us after returning from his nightclub nonsense.
Breathing in a sigh of relief, Riku and I went to our rooms and locked the doors securely. We were just waiting for his mum to return and show her what a terrible man she had married. He deserved to be behind bars...
As soon as I walked in to my room, I began to change my clothes, however, while I was pulling a shirt over my head, I felt as if someone was staring at me...and guess what? Across from my window, a boy with spiky black hair was looking at me, trying to imitate the 'pedophile look', looking creepy as hell.
Naturally, I screamed.
I felt my face feel extremely hot as I watched him topple over fits of laughter. Our windows were so close we could literally see everything.
And that pervert is Vanitas Fair, who happens to be my next door neighbour and Roxas' cousin...
