Summary: Sam and Mercedes first meeting end in a fight.
Sam was a growing five year old he was naturally curious when he saw two nice pigtails, on the nice new girl. They were straight, but curled at the tips. He quickly brought it upon himself to touch them to see if they were as soft as they looked. As he made his way to her his fingers had just graced the tips when he tripped. Sam pulled the girl's hair down with him and soon they were both toppling. The girl let out a cry, because Sam still had his hand wrapped around the soft pigtail. He didn't even notice until the girl slapped his hand away, glaring at him. Aww man this wasn't supposed to happen, Sam thought, she was suppose to become my friend not glare at me.
Sam tried to apologize, but all the girl (who he quickly learned name was Mercedes, because the teacher called them in by name) did was glare and pout to the blonde girl Quinn about her pigtails being messed up. Quinn started to glare along with her as she fixed Mercedes hair. Ever since Mercedes came Quinn always hung around the smaller girl acting like big sister and protecting her. Her eyes looked like they were going to shoot lasers when she saw Sam holding onto Mercedes hair. Sam shrunk back in fear as he walked back into the classroom.
Sam didn't even see it coming as someone threw toys at him. He turned to see two girls giggling and running away. This was not over, Sam thought as he picked up the toy and started playing with it -he is five after all. Sam was smirking as Mercedes hands were stuck to the paper she was finger painting on, he had mixed glue into the blue paint while she and Quinn were talking about what ever girls talk about.
The next few days were crazy as Mercedes and Sam played pranks on each other. Mercedes had finally gotten tired and shoved Sam arguing and saying that he started it. Finally the teacher -where has she been- came around and told them to resolve it in the corner. Instead of talking to Sam, Mercedes quickly grabbed the Sokka doll and began to play. Sam was a huge Avatar fan, so he quickly started a conversation about how funny Sokka was ,and how Aang looked so cool air bending. Sam could see she was no longer mad at him and introduced himself properly. She was nice when he wasn't on her bad side. She grabbed his hand and they became quick friends. He saw Quinn glare at him and he glared back sticking his tongue out.
From that day on they wouldn't let go of each others hand, even when they were napping at nap time.
