"Are you sure I wont drown?" Her voice wavered for a moment as her fingers dipped into the inky black water. A heavy sense of uncertainty hovered over them as the sky continued to blacken, only leaving behind a crimson sun like a drop of blood in the sky to slowly slip over the horizon. Her pale skin seemed grow translucent as the last rays of fiery sunlight faded away to silver moonlight in the background. The water, which had once looked like a sea of blood because of the scarlet sunset, was now a mass of silent rippling waves: the dark water hiding what lied beneath. Her green as glowed in the darkness as she peered up at him, her face a mixture of fear, caution, and curiosity.
"Yes." The single word echoed throughout the silence surrounding them. "I won't let you go." With those last words, he reached over and interlaced his own callused, webbed fingers with her soft, nimble ones. Doubt slowly began to fade from her features as she nodded and held onto him as tightly as he held onto her. "I trust you." Her voice mingled with the wind, but he was able to hear every syllable that fell from her lips. They both faced the water again, but the fear was gone. They had each other, that's all that mattered. Still entwining their fingers, they leapt into the swirl sea of black, not caring about what lied before them as long as they stayed just like this: together
