Go Rest High On That Mountain
The news had just come. They were at CD's. Everyone was shocked. CD was dead. CD Parker. It couldn't be possible. But yet it was. CD was dead. A song came on the jukebox.
I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain.
CD had always wanted a family, children. He had never had that. He was forced to retire from the Rangers because of an injury. To be a Ranger, CD had to ride like a Mexican, track like a Commanche, shoot like a Kentuckian, and fight like the devil.
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son.
CD's done so much for everyone. For his friends. For his adopted family. For the victims of the crimes. For just strangers who came into the bar. For Maisie. He always loved God and country. He was such a role model. His "grandchildren" will never know him.
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing.
I still can't believe it. Not CD. The angels will love him. He was the best friend. This is not the end. He will see angels and heaven. And when we die, we'll see him again.
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son
Disclaimer: Obviously, I do not own CD Parker. If I did, this fiction would not be needed because he would not have died. I also do not own this song. It was written and performed by Vince Gill. All Walker fans will miss this special Ranger.
