George shouted 'stupefy' and his spell hit Dolochov, who fell backwards with a shout. He looked around, and saw Lupin lying at the floor. "No!" he screamed, and ran to the body. "No, Lupin, please don't be dead.." He felt someone watching him and turned around. He ducked and the killing curse missed him with inches. He was about to stupefy him, when another death eater missed Firenze with the killing curse and hit the death eater in the back. As he fell down, George saw a flash of green light in the corner of his eye. He automatically turned, and saw Fred. He was laughing, talking to Percy. Fred's brown eyes looked him directly in his for a moment, and then he was hit by the spell. Fred froze, and then fell down with a thud that echoed in George ears, even though there was a lot of shouting and screaming around in the castle. He heard his blood pound in his ears, his vision blurred, 'no, this couldn't be happening, Fred, he couldn't be dead, he'd sit up soon, brush of the dust and keep fighting...no, Fred... Fred!' A scream of terror broke out of him. "Fred!" he screamed, his emotions freaking out. He didn't know how he had gotten there so quick, he fell down on his knees as he continued to scream his brothers name. His nails dug into his own skin. He could feel his own skin tear, but he didn't care. He pressed his face against his brothers neck, tried to feel any pulse. There wasn't any. Tears was streaming down his face, he couldn't see, he couldn't think, he didn't wanted to exist anymore...
Three months. Three months had passed since George watched his twin die. There had be a funeral. George hadn't been there. He couldn't accept the fact that Fred was gone. He still expected him to rush in to their room and tell him about a new product idea for their shop. Fred's absence hung over the house. George didn't eat. He looked down on his belly and slowly traced the outline of his ribs with his finger.
"George?" His mothers voice called through the locked door. "Is there anything I can get you, sweetie?"
"No, mum" he answered, though his mind had a better answer; 'Give me my twin back.' He heard her steps fade away has she walked down the stairs.
The days went on as usual. Then one day, someone knocked on his door. That was unusual. They tried for two weeks, and then gave up when he didn't opened for them. And yet, someone was knocking. "What do you want, mum?" he asked, slightly annoyed. "I isn't your mum" answered whoever it was. "Let me come in" There was 15 minutes of silence. George didn't move. He didn't want anyone to come in, to try convince him that everything was going to be alright, because it wouldn't. "I don't want to stand the whole night, y'know." Angrily, George got up and unlocked the door.
Harry Potters sparkling green eyes met his. His lips was pressed together, and yet he smiled. It was a rather sad smile. "Can I come in?" George stepped aside. Harry got in. George closed the door. "Don't say anything" George told him. "It wont help."
"I wasn't going to say anything." Harry told him softly. "Just thought... just thought you didn't wanted to be alone up here."
George didn't know why, but he could feel tears starting to burn behind his eyes. He didn't know why. 'course, his family didn't wanted him to be up here alone either, but that someone outside the family cared... that was new. He let them fall. Harry walked to him, until they stood so close George could feel Harry's breath on his chin. Harry hugged him. He held him tight, so tightly it hurt. George hugged him back. They stood so for a long time. Not until Mrs. Weasly yelled from downstairs, saying that it was time for dinner, the let go of each other. Harry gave him a smile. "Are you going to eat?" He asked. George gave him a weak smile. It felt odd to smile, like his muscles had forgotten how to. "Maybe"
