Mistletoe
"Cupcake we're leaving now, with or without you" yelled Carmilla from the front door of their apartment. There was an unintelligible yell followed by a series of thumping noises and Laura emerged from the stairwell with tousled hair and a sheepish smile. "Did you just… You know what. Never mind. I knew you were clumsy but this is a new low. You can't even walk down a set of stairs without falling over?" Carmilla stated whilst shaking her head. They stood in the doorway together and Carmilla made to leave but Laura interjected, "Nope. You can't leave just yet." She pointed up to the top of the doorframe where a sprig of mistletoe was taped. Carmilla rolled her eyes and started, "Creampuff you can't just…" Laura had leaned in and their lips were millimeters apart. Carmilla leaned in hesitantly and Laura's fingers ran softly through her hair. They remained locked together until Carmilla felt something vibrating. She raised an eyebrow at Laura who just flushed bright red and lightly slapped her for being inappropriate. "Hey Laf," said Laura dejectedly into her new smartphone. She continued to chat with them as Carmilla drove towards the bar. When they were parked Carmilla reached for the door handle but Laura quickly shook her head. Taped to the roof of the car was another sprig of mistletoe, or the same one. Carmilla couldn't really concentrate when Laura was doing that with her tongue.
Silas was relatively empty for a Friday night, especially one during the holiday season. Laura rushed in and bear hugged Kirsch. Carmilla just nodded in his direction. "How's business?" Laura asked curiously. Kirsch began recounting a story about a bar fight that happened just last week and Danny jokingly told him that she could totally deck him with just one punch. This resulted in Kirsch pretending to come at Danny and then passing out from her vicious right hook. Danny rushed him off to hospital whilst Laura, Perry, Carmilla and Laura clutched their sides, laughing at the absurd situation. Carmilla got up from the booth but Laura wagged her finger. Another sprig hung from the light just above their heads. A sigh escaped Carmilla as she pretended to reluctantly lean in. They were stopped by Perry spraying water on them from a spray bottle she apparently carried around everywhere. The Ginger Twins left soon after and Laura just turned to her girlfriend, "Carm I have a surprise for you back at the apartment." Camilla's mind was racing as she wondered what could possibly be in store for her when she returned.
They entered the lift and Carmilla looked up at the roof. "Shoot!" exclaimed Laura, "I should have put one in the lift I'm such an idiot" Carmilla just snuggled up to her and whispered, "Well you're my idiot." Laura cheeks tinted red as she dragged Carmilla, scarf blowing in the wind, onto their balcony. Her mouth dropped as she finally saw what Laura had done. There was an igloo, albeit a small one, on their balcony. A fucking igloo. Now Carm was running, her boots leaving deep footprints in the snow. They both crawled inside and sat, their knees just touching and their heads slightly bent. Laura was watching her girlfriend intently and lit up at the huge smile spread across Carmilla's face. She almost felt guilty for what she was about to do. Splat went the snowball as it hit Carmilla right in her 100 watt smile. It dripped down and Laura winced as she saw it enter her shirt. Laura quickly scrambled to get out of the igloo before Carmilla's brain had even processed what had happened. Carmilla crawled out the door and was met with the sight of Laura cowering in the corner of the the balcony. Oops she mouthed just before Carmilla began with her retaliation. Snowball after snowball rained down on Laura's small frame as she tried to outrun them. Carmilla caught up to her and tackled her legs. They lay side by side in the snow and Laura let out an exasperated sigh, "Merry Christmas Carm."
